so i read somewhere that its common for them to break. is there a common place where it breaks? i can push the pedal to the floor with very little effort.

It could be broke but more than likely the e-brake pads are probably worn down and are out of adjustment or simply need to be replaced, very common problem on our rigs!

its been like that since i bought it. but i just noticed within the day or two i am getting a rubbing sound from the breaks in the rear passenger side. im going to pull the wheel when i get home and see whats up with it.

Mine didn't work when I bought it either, finally did a brake job 9 months ago and decided to pony up the extra cash to fix the E-brake!

mine goes all the way to the floor also but it does hold the truck still. I think for that issue you just need to have it adjusted

Yep, I'll have to do mine when/if I ever need to replace any rear brake components.

Here's aquestion for some of you, this may be long. Since some of you mentioned that yours didn't work since you bought the truck (assuming used). When you guys park, i guess you just leave it in park right? Well this is just my second automatic vehicle, the first I only kept for 8 months. Thing is I don't like on automatic vehicles when you park on a slight incline or decline and put in park you get that 3-4 inches of travel before the tranny holds it. My question is, isn't that bad? Since when it's time to leave and you put your vehicle in gear you hear that clunk which is it releasing aLL that weight that's been resting on it. I am by far the automatic expert but thaat can't be good for your transmission. So I always use my parking brake before I put in park, I put my trk in neutral apply parking brake the put in park. Could failure to do this why some folks have tranny problems and others don't. Granted my trk was purchased used so I have no idea what the previous owner did. Thoughts

well after 350,000+ hard miles, my grandfather's 4x4 still had no issues. I don' think he EVER, in 20 years used the parking brake on it.
What I do Is ease off the brake, not jump off it when I'm on an incline.

Ok just a thought. Common sense for me just suggest otherwise
, i would love to see the day/year i can stand a vehicle for that long. I kinda get bored quickly, 3-5 yrs. lets see if this time can be different since i really like this truck, then again i liked all my past vehivles to and none stayed for more than 5 yrs

mine you can push down and it works fine, but when you pull the release you have to lift the peddle back up by hand, it doesnt lift back up on it own. like that when i bought it
