Its 18 degrees out and my drivers DRL blew out. I figure no big deal and pull the Hoe into the garage and start to pull the headlight assembly. I remove the top 2 bolts and pull the assembly out with no problems. I replace the bulb and when I push the assembly back in the tabs snap off :emotions122:.

Now what? Any ideas for me to rig it up? I put the bolts back in but it still sits slightly recessed compared to the other one.

Same thing happened to me last year when it was cold. You can get some epoxy and glue them back on. Just make sure it is dry before trying. Also, heat up the plastic a bit with a heat gun. The plastic will be less brittle and give a little more. Cold weather sux!

Thanks for the tip. Problem is I have no idea where the tabs went. Looks like I will be cramming a shop rag in thye space to prop the light up until I can find a solution.

Has anyone had any luck with the projector style I see on Ebay?

^ tab is located at the outer bottom corner of each headlight. The proper way to remove the headlight is to go through wheel well.

IDK try epoxy. IMO the aftermarket headlights look too ricey. I have only seen one set that looks good, but have not found them. Good luck.

I see that now that I have been surfing on here this morning. That is a poor design. Why would you make it so you have to pull the inner fender to do this? My other cars just pulled out after removing the top bolts. I should have know with it being a GM. I guess I will shop ebay for some decent aftermarket assemblies.

The new Tahoe/Suburban is a joke with the removal of the headlight housing. Should not be as involved as it is. I think it would be easier to remove the bumper to get the headlights off rather than taking the chance of scraping the bumper and bending, etc.

I think they make it that way so that most people take it to the dealer if their bulbs go out since they can't get the headlight out. It's a good way to charge extra labor. Good thinking GM :flipthebird:

try orderkeystone.com they have a/m headlights for your tahoe ranging from 177-261 dollers depending on the quality you want. obviously the 261 dollar light is the better made light. or if its the left hand headlight thats broke AND its the same headlight as an avalanche i happened to have one laying around here that seems to be in pretty good condition. its part number 15895612
