I have a set of Defenders on my '16 that have at least 60,000 miles on them and still have about 5/32" of tread. I'll get another winter out of them for sure - honestly the larger concern might be the condition of the rubber as they've been on the truck five years now.

I drive it between Castle Rock, CO and Avon, CO constantly between our two homes, including all kinds of snowpacked roads. Although I admit that I stay home instead of killing myself in hideous I-70 blizzard conditions when I have the choice, I've never felt the Defenders to be a liability in the snow. And we all know they handle great and are really quiet on dry highway.

Just put a set on my wife's GLC300 as well. She could not care any less about tires and she immediately commented on how quiet and stable they felt to her.

Excellent tires.
