Well, it's a little more than that, right? EL wire runs on AC, not DC, so you need an inverter, and it has to be well-sealed/weatherproof.

Naw the wire came with a transformer already on it with a USB plug. I had an old hardwire 3 amp 12v to USB converter I used to power it. Pulled power from driver park light. The EL wire itself is all weatherproof by design and the inverter got taped to the back side of the grill to keep it out of the weather.

Two 10mm nuts holt the badge to the grill. Once removed, I separated the clearish plastic cover from the badge. Its just double face taped on. This left a groove around the edge where the clear plastic sat. I ditched the clear plastic altogether and superglued the wire in that groove. It came out all uneven, kind of like the groove wasn't the same depth all the way around. It looks fine at night but any closer than 10 feet during the day and it kinda looks like a 5 minute job. My plan for v2 is to use clear epoxy and set the wire at the same height all the way around. I taped off the wire and outside edge of the badge and sprayed the middle with some primer and black implement paint cause its all I had. V2 will be painted correctly. This was a quick experiment to see what it looked like. With some more time and patience v2 should be much cleaner.
