Is the 3M wheel used dry...or with some type of compound?

dry.... a lot of times you'll then go back over the are where the adhesive used to be and polish it up and you never know the bad or emblem was there.

I used it dry, I followed the steps outlined earlier in this post, heat gun, fishing line and 3M wheel.

I was not grinding too long or hard, you just got to find that balance where it really grinds away on the adhesive and it'll vanish in no time.

Yeah, if i had to do it again i think i could do it a lot quicker. But like ghostworks said, you have to find that right balance of pressure because it gets pretty hot. And yes, when using a heat gun, make sure to constantly move the heat gun. Otherwise you'll ruin the paint if you stay in one spot too long.

What about the side molding along the side of the vehicle? Mine are in rough shape and would like to get rid of them. I have taken badges off several different vehicles, but never the side molding.

Are there any holes under the moldings or under any badges on the tahoe?

Who has experience taking these off and how did the paint look underneath?

For those of you who used the eraser wheel did y'all have any swirl marks left behind after using it?
I tested it on a part of the truck and it left a swirl mark that I couldn't seem to get off completely. It's only noticeable from about 1 inch away looking directly at it, but I tried some Simple Green, Wax and Grease Remover and neither of those helped.
Is it just something you have to buff out? I figured it was, but I don't have access to any type of buffer, other than elbow grease.

I did both badges and door/side mouldings with no problem. There are no holes underneath the side mouldings, at least not on my 03 LS Tahoe. It's just held on with double sided tape. Remove moulding, and use 3M wheel to take off the tape.

It may depend on how long and how hard you press with the 3M wheel. I had small swirl marks, but nothing you could see. After using the 3M wheel, i used a polisher over the area and it was fine. No damage to paint

Just finished this and figured I would share my results.

First off I did this because my side moldings had some bubbles in them, something that looked like clips underneath. Well come to find out the bubbles were from the GM stickers underneath, one on each piece. (I was not happy to find this, but oh well).

I used the heat gun and eraser wheel and It worked great. The fishing line method worked great on the emblems, but I only used it on the side moldings to get them started, then just pulled them off by hand. A little bit of polishing and then wax and it looks awesome!

Eraser wheel is the only way to fly! Works great on vinyl pinstriping also! (hence "stripe off wheel")

x2 this thing works.

when i pulled my rear molding n emblems i used fising line, plastic sraper, goo gone, and wd40... it was a pain. when i pulled off the roof mouldings. i used the 3m wheel and my cordless drill. works awesome. and no sore fingers.
