Dash trim question

Before I go breaking things--
The blank spot under the rear hatch switch...Can I just pop that out or do I have to remove the dash face to get it out?
I'm doing a mod and I need to put an LED light there.

99.9% sure the dash trim panel needs to come off.

those three pieces are attached to each other. so you will have to pop the switch out as well.

pull the dash faceplate unhook it, pop all three out.

What? When I play with mine I don't have to take the dash trim off. Those three plates are one peice. Just use a small jeweller's flat screwdriver to carefully pop it out. There is enough length of wire so that the blank comes out enough for you to work with the wire connectors to disconnect it. The trick is to go slow, take your time. If you are really carefull and patient enough then you can mix and match plates with other things.
