Hello, I have a 2002 Yukon Denali that I bought from the original owner in Alabama and have been driving for the past 19 years and I really like the vehicle.I have been thinking about updating and purchasing a 2018-2020 Yukon Denali Ultimate. Since I keep my vehicles for a long time I want to buy something with lower mileage and one that has really been taken care of. I know that is hard to find. But I will wait until I find the right one.
I have read lots of horror stories about the engines and transmissions, but everytime I ask someone who I see driving one, they alway say it's great no problems.
So please help me out and give me some things I should be looking out for, and any advice is appreciated.
I have attached a picture of my 2002 which I hate to sell, but I really like all the new technology in the newer vehicles.
Thanks,
Steve

The 2018-2020 6.2L + 10 speed is a winning combo. Expect the magride to fail around 100K & battery around 4 years. Stay away if any rust issues or original sold in Canada.

My 2018 Yukon Denali Ultimate with 130K miles drives & still looks like new. I did have an AFM lifter fail at 80K miles so installed a non-AFM cam setup. Been a great vehicle with no plans to sell it.

How many miles are on your ‘02?
Are you experiencing any major failures right now that’s driving you to replace it or just think it’s time?
Do you have to sell it?
If you can keep your ‘02 and add the ‘18-‘20 Denali I would do that.

I’ve been looking at the same vehicle you’re searching for but in the XL version and they’re hard to find now with anything less than 40K +/- miles. There’s a few out there with <30K that pop up, but most of the sellers are real proud of that low mileage and price them pretty high.

Most are in the 65-110K+ mile range now. Which depending on service history can be the time window of things like shocks/struts which are pricey. If they’ve been replaced make sure they’ve been replaced with OEM magnetic ride control shocks/struts and not some cheap knock-offs or aftermarket “simulator” units.

Everything in the 50-75K mile range should have at least one fluid and filter service on the transmission and drivetrain fluids. If not, use that to negotiate the price down if it’s one that you want.

I have 19 ultimate. Bought it new. Just rolled 105k miles. Like @MrMonte said, mag ride replaced at 100k. Serviced all drivetrain components every 35k or so. We use it for road trips. Love it

It just turned 173K on the odometer. I have fixed many things over the years, and it runs and drives great.
I don't have to sell it, but it would use up alot of my garage space storing it. For that reason I would probably sell it. I hate to see it go though.

I have looked at a few used ones, and when I crawled under them to look around, I saw that the front shocks were leaking. The dealer wouldn't replace so I walked.
Besides the shocks, what else should I be aware of?
