This post is for the archives in the rare chance that someone might have the same problem. The drivel below is intended to be read only by those that have this problem with their compass... or those looking for an original thread among the HID lighting and De-badging posts.
If your compass (in the mirror) doesn't give the correct heading and it does the exact opposite that you think it will (reads N, turn right and then reads E) then it's probably that the wiring between the PCB in the mirror and the sensors in the base of the mirror had its connector flipped. Some of you might remember when I asked about this a couple months ago.
I found this out after replacing the compass circuit board inside the mirror and the sensors at the base. I've had the mirror apart before when I was fixing the Valentine One display. I had unplugged the connector that I referred to and noticed it didn't look like it was right but it would only go on one way. In this attempt to fix the compass I had a donor mirror with that I desoldered the compass PCB from and installed on mine. After the transplant didn't fix the problem I looked for the wire color order on the connector and it was upside down. There was no way it was going to go on the correct way tho. When I took the wire from the donor I realized what had happened. The guys that did the Valentine One mod plugged the connectors in the wrong locations. The end that was suppose to be in the mirror was plugged into the PCB at the windshield base and vice versa. In doing so the connector could be plugged in correctly at the base but the key at the other end allowed it to only be plugged in the wrong way in the mirror.
So all is well now. If you dorked around with your mirror, this is what you did.
