Clean your throttle body!

Just in case you didn't know (like I didn't) if your truck is not idling like it should especially on warm restarts, clean your throttle body. I, not talking about just spraying it with cleaner. Get out a tooth brush and clean that sucker good!

When you gain access to the throat at the throttle plate area open the plate but not to complete wide open throttle. Have someone in the front holding the pedal where you want them to. Use carb cleaner and you can use a tooth brush if you want but a really clean rag(s) will do. Reach in there at the throttle plate area where it closes and see the build up, it will be dark. Clean that all good and on the throttle plate too. The build up causes air flow turbulence that can create rough idle and hesitation at accel and surging.

You mean the black stuff I see on my "new" 2006 5.3L ?
I'm going over my new ride - bit by bit - I took out the plastic piece between the air cleaner and TB intake and saw this black stuff.
