Awesome - thanks for the info. Right now I'm leaning towards the VCXNano simply because I can get it for less than half the cost of any of the Tech 2 suppliers shipped to Canada (not to mention how much they will tag on at customs). Right now time is getting tight (summer road trip planned) but I think I should be able to get it done. I am not the product expert. But, it looks like the ones that list "ECU" programming are the ones that are $2k+.
If you can't find something suitable that is already sitting at Chinacrdiags.com, cancel that and get refund.
If time is critical (or at least somewhat important to you), I would look to get a Tech 2 that is ready to go.
While the VXNano is a great option once it is installed and running... There is no way of telling how easy that process will go. You could end up farting around, trying to get the program running.
It really might be best to get a Tech 2 that is in stock and ready to ship. New or even used.
I would start with that OBD2 website and just get what you need and have it ready to go out of the box as soon as it comes in. And for $300 or so, we know what it can do, which is pretty near everything under the sun when it comes to our GM trucks.

that will not work for what he is trying to do, pretty sure it does not read abs at all either, none do over bluetooth part of the reason being abs/srs are not OBD at all.
the tech2 or tech2win can do what he needs to do, tis2000 is not needed. all that has to be done is a vin-relearn for the abs module.
Is there a thread already created that details how this is accomplished? It’s for the airbag module not abs but I would imagine the process is pretty much identical?

it's not hard to do at all, once you have the replacement module in you just turn the key on with th tech2 / tech2win running and go to the body control module and then srs system once you are in there you will see a option to vin-relearn the module. that's basically how it goes, the srs system could be in another place on the tech2 it was while back when I did mine but if you just poke around the menu's you will find it, the options are not endless on the tech2, it only has so many choices if you don't find then just back out and pick another one. Awesome, sounds pretty straightforward then. I’ve ordered one of the VCXNano’s but it won’t arrive until next week. I’ll do some poking around as well for other resources in the meantime. It’s always good to have multiple sources.

i have that app. it scans everything. srs abs p and c codes and will clear abs code history. also does live engine data.
nobody I know or have seen has been able to get abs/srs to come up with any bluetooth adapter, it supposedly works on other makes or brand vehicle but not on GM, I have a gang of bt obd adapters and have tried them on a variety of app's, maybe i am doing something wrong

all i can tell you is it works for me on my tahoe, and it worked on my 98 regal. ive yet to need to plug it into my camaro yet. ive got a old damn its got to be 16 years old now elm327 blue tooth, but thos have been hijacked by china junk, the bafx brand works the best these days. but it does work. ive got the free version that was available from years ago before the pay for the full app started. maybe its just got no ad's? idk.
I have a fairly old elm as well but when I try to use even that with say torque it won't do it, oh well I still have a gang of other stuff to use lol, tech2, innova 5610, vxnano, mdi1, mdi2, and a couple other little scanners and the maestro rr is always plugged in so if anything happens it pops up on the radio with the code
And the saga continues - after telling them that I would like to cancel the order since they cannot fill it and have no idea when the product might be available I received this response:

They played a similar game with me when it came to a faulty VCI module in my unit. Thats why I asked if you had received a refund…
sounds like they are deciding to eat a little profit to try and keep the sale instead of having to refund and make nothing, classic for how they conduct business over there.

Not sure what they're offering - the original offer said that it was "another factory, same functions, but higher cost". The only link they provided was to their paypal account. I did just received another email from them confirming that they will cancel the order tomorrow morning their time - so by the end of the day here? I'll post when I receive confirmation of the refund.

Sounds like it was another source and might have had additional shipping costs, but they aren't charging any more.
If it were me, I would probably just let them ship it.
He mentioned from another plant... Didn't sound like any kind of bait and switch, just a different factory.
If it is not 100% to your satisfaction, you could always turn around and throw it up on E-bay.
I don't think they would offer anything that was junk or not meeting their standards. The unit I got had excellent build quality. Everything was very sturdy and worked perfect out of the box. But if you are sketched-out completely...
