Can the DRLs be rewired to not be the headlights?

I am looking at getting a new set of headlight housings for my Yukon that have the stupid c shaped LED bar. Its not ugly but its not a true DRL light because the headlights also come on during the day. I want to preserve the headlight life but also have the front light up properly. In one of the reviews the guy said he removed the DRL fuse so his headlights wouldn't come on but that makes me wonder if the wiring can easily be changed to just go to that LED bar instead of the headlight connector?

Here are the lights I am likely going to purchase:

You can find a fuse that is always on with the engine ON and tap into that and feed the LEDs light that way, A simple relay can then interrupt the signal when the headlight is on and that's just one way to do it.

I found a thread earlier today where a guy used an add-a-fuse to change the lights that came on to be the driving lights on his NNBS truck so I think I am going to start there like you said and see if it works with these.
