Last week the radiator in my 08 tahoe started to leak badly to the point where coolant was just gushing from underneath the front of the truck. Long story short took the radiator to a local shop they installed a new tank got the radiator back and installed it. That solved the big coolant leak but now Im getting a bucking / shaking when driving around 55+ mph sort of feels like driving over speed strips.. If i let off the gas when this happens the problem stops... only engine code im getting is P1153 something with the 02 sensors..but the light goes in and out several times a week.

Does this sound like my trans or torque converter maybe going out???

+1 that it sounds like classic impending TC failure symptoms. Yours has the 4L60E though, right? How many miles on the transmission/TC that's in it?

Agree with the above members that the TCC is likely failing...Plug a scan tool into the OBD2 port, bring up live transmission data and take it for a drive...Specifically look at TCC slip speeds when duty cycle is at or near max. If slip is > a few RPM or so, TCC is likely shot.

if you ever so slightly touch the brake pedal while it's bucking, it will unlock the converter. not enough to add any load to the engine, just enough to turn on the brake lights.

bad o2 sensors causing the air/fuel ratio to swing excessively can feel like surging too

update: the bucking has decreased significantly now after cleaning the maf but still has a very slight shudder that comes and goes.

The MAF could of been my problem. I did remove it while working on the radiator and left it under my garage for a day or two. Maybe the moisture from my dryer did something to it.
