Brembo Questions

Hey gang, I could use some help. I bought a 2022 Suburban Z71 6.2L last ~October. Stock brakes and stock 20in wheels/tires. Have been really happy with it, but have been kicking around the idea of adding the Brembo's for a few months now. Even called into the dealer back in Oct/Nov, but was told that there is no kit that included both the front AND rear Brembo calipers for my rig. They went on to say that there was no separate part# for just the rears and that I could only do the fronts. This isn't aligning with what I'm seeing online or reading in the forums.

So, on to my questions:

1. Is there an OEM Brembo package or set of part#'s that will work for my 2022, or do I have to purchase the GM/Brembo branded part(s)?
2. Is there a separate GM part# for the rears compatible with 2022? I have electronic parking brake if it matters.
3. Regardless of answers above, is there a kit that includes both front AND rears?
4. Is there any way to address and continue getting TPMS data? I've read that you have to turn it off.
5. Any help with part#'s or feedback from other 2022 owners (or those in the know) is greatly appreciated.
6. Would you trust a shop that works closely with the dealer on upgrades/add-ons to perform this swap?
7. Should I just forget about all this and have someone paint/powder coat the existing stock calipers?

There are 2 accessory kits available, one for front, one for rear. Rear set is really stock calipers painted red to match...front is a true brake upgrade including brembo calipers and larger rotors. See screen shot below.
Had not heard that you lose TPMS capability, I do think you may lose pad wear indicator capability.

Thank you. And you're right, I was confusing TPMS with brake wear indicator.

I've got front and rears on order. Looking forward to getting them installed.

For those who've installed these, any feedback, good or bad? Any regrets?

No regrets. Brakes work great. Expect less miles on the pads before you need replace compared to stock.

Different vehicle but same concept and same possible impact…..

You might need to get new brake caliper mounting brackets…..both front and rear….

Here’s the logic…..

Front….Larger diameter rotors….the brackets might need to be extended further away to account for the wider diameter rotors.

Rear: In that scenario the brake upgrade kit switched the rear rotors to vented. Adds about an inch to the width of the rotor. The caliper needs to be wider to account for that width.

Recap. Front rotors will be wider as in diameter….ex 12” to 13 or 14”…..not exact numbers but you should get the idea.

Rear Rotors…..Wider as in looking front-Back….:basically adding about 1/2-1” to the width of the rotors to account for the venting slots.

I am not saying this is the case with E/S/T/Y but possible.

Also make a note for future brake pad replacement…..some parts clerk especially dealers ask for VIN….that may not work anymore since you modified the brakes. You might be wise to get a photo of the new pad and rotor P/N so when you are up for replacement have the reference handy. If your like me when I do brake inspections….I usually have the new pads and rotors on hand so if I do need to replace, I have the new ones ready to go and save a second trip. If they pass inspection you can return the pads and rotors for the refund.

Once you do the initial upgrade as in calipers, brackets barring any other problems future repairs should only involve pads, rotors and depending on mileage and time possibly brake system/fluid flush.

Thats a shame. For the money you should AT LEAST be able to get the same amount of brake life/miles out of the Brembo upgraded brakes than stock and one would hope you could get even more!

I realize my '15 Yukon XL Denali is the previous gen and a different platform; But I easily get 80K+ miles of wear out of my front Wilwood 16" TX6R BBK and 100K+ miles out of the rear Wilwood 14" AERO4 BBK.

The 2-piece rotors of the Wilwood BBK are nice. They are significantly lighter than the stock 1-piece rotors.

Call the parts desk at your dealer, they will have the P/N.

I suspect it is the same pad as the PPV Tahoe, but to be sure, simply ask the parts people.

Talked with a guy last night that had brembos on his RST. Replacement pads were $500. He was able to have his rotors turned to avoid the $2,000 rotors replacement heartache.

I have this set up on my RST. I LOVE the braking feel and I would argue stopping distance definitely improved (unfortunately I did not measure difference before and after). Had a rear dragging brake issue after install from dealer. After multiple back and forth visits it was finally resolved. I still somehow feel the weight of these things in my steering and even coasting. Mpg still not fully bacl to where it was before but its definitely way better than having a dragging rear brake. Wondering if maybe I dont have another issue going on. Still, it looks so damn good on the Truck!!!.
