I'm new to the site getting ready to purchase my first z71. I'm looking to get the ccm 2.5/1 leveling kit (seems to be the most popular) and some 20x9 bmf novakanes. I wanna run nitto trail grapplers but I'm having trouble deciding between 295's and 305's. Daveyz71's tahoe looks awesome on 305's I really like the amount of space between the top of the tire and the fender well, not to mention the beefier tires. I just need some input before I go out and spend a bunch of money on tires and end up not happy...

There are definitely alot of question on this and some of the same ones I have been asking are what you are. Basically what I have been told is that the 295s are te best to go with because you won't have to do alot of trimming...visit like the the third thread down from this one and it has 3 pages. It has alot of information and pictures. A member just did the Ccm with the trail grapplers and it looks awesome!

But other than that I am about to do the Ccm and I am going to go with the 295s.

Thanks man, Yea I've been doing some research and it seems that I'd have to invest in a sawzall if I wanted to go with 305's. Idk about you but the idea of using a saw on a brand new $50k suv makes me a little nervous. Looks like 295's it will be

check out 07z71hoe's tahoe...its the ccm with the 295s

rlewis, ccm is definately the way to go as far as the leveling kit. They are reasonable price and a great product overall. If you want to run 305's your going to have to do a good bit of trimming but all it is all plastic, no metal. When you purchase your rims make sure that you check the offset of the rim because that has a alot to do with he size tire that you can run. The main reason I am running 305's along with the other people on the site, they are keeping the factory offset. Here is a pic of the trimming I did:

does anyone know if 285 65 20's would fit with the 2.5/1 ccm kit? any thoughts on that idea. i saw a suburban with 285 terra grapplers and they seemed plenty wide to me.

Cr- I did some searching online and a 285.65R20 ia 34.8 x 11.8. I honestly dont know if that will work. I have the ccm kit and i keep the factory rims and an rrunning 305/55R20 and I rubbed a good bit before i trimmed the plastic. I know for a fact that a 285/60 will fit on there but i dont know about the 285/65. When you are looking for tires, remember that the Front number(285,305) is the width and the (55,65) is how much sidewall you will have. Let me know if you have any more questions or need any pics.

Whoa....yikes....I definitely don't think the 285/65-20 would fit. Typically, the max tire height that fits with minor/moderate trimming after the leveling kit is about 33.5". The 285/65-20 is theoretically 34.6" tall. A 285/60-20 is theoretically 33.5" tall...which may fit...but you'd probably have to trim like crazy.

Dave I like that pic you posted that looks good. Chances are I'll prob do some trimming anyways, I don't like the way all that plastic looks. How wide are those rims? 8.5? also whats your backspacing like? I know the 20x9 novakanes have 4.5 backspace

thanks for the input guys. i dont think the terra grapplers are offered in 285 60. but they do have 295 60.......sounds like even that might be strecting it a little too much. Any one know of some decent tires in 285/60/20???
