I have a 2005 Yukon and came with factory 20's. Just took them off to put a set of XD Hoss 20x9 rims on it since im not a fan of chrome. Wanting to upgrade the brakes on my ride but not sure what kit would be the best bang for the buck. Vehicle already came with hydroboost so thats an upgrade that i dont need. Question i got is what would recommend for a kit, not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on a Wilwood Kit but still something with a larger rotor diameter that will give me better stopping. Thanks for your help.... Jake

Upgrade to 07+ rotors and calipers. Direct bolt on and only costs a few toes.

The 2007+ are an inch bigger in the front and the rears are smaller(so I've heard). So upgrade the fronts and keep the rears, imo.

2011Tahoe...http://tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=571 Heres the link for the 4hi and 6hi mod. So easy to do, you juat jump a few relays and when you turn your high beams on your high, low, and fog lights come on.

Kman.... Where did you get your rotors from. I work at a shop and get deals from Napa. Before i read that Chauncey said that the rears would be smaller if i upgraded the front and rears it was going to cost me alittle over 300 after my cores for the calipers. So what im thinking then is just doing the front brakes and rotors then.. They would be OEM from an 07 but not slotted... Thats why im curious where you got the slotted ones from

do the 07 fronts i did with drilled and slotted rotos and ceramic pads and love it. however, unless you plan on alot of 100mph to 0 stops i would do metallic pads. (next time)

Will this work on a 2001 tahoe? Need to know, cause I keep eating up my brake pads!

Yes sir it will. But your brake pad problem is not the size of the brakes but more likely the material your brake pads are made of.

Thanks, well be doing this real soon. 24's and the a**hole drivers here in SD keep me on my toes driving. My trucks a 4x4, so should I go with the 4x4 brakes off a 07?

I believe they're the same for 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. But I could be wrong.

Just so everyone knows, mid-year in 08 the brake caliper brackets were changed slightly and the pads are different and the anti-rattle clips added fingers. Buy GM rotors and GM pads, they are the best (not AC/Delco, they are different). I bought calipers from a breaker's yard on eBay from a wrecked 2011 Silverado so they were basically new and had no core charge and were cheaper.

if i got to Jegs or Summit or someone like that and get the EBCB Brake rotors and pads for a 2007 Tahoe and then buy the new rotors for the parts store will that work? Want to have alittle better stopping with my 20's and want it to look good a well.

Kinda confusing question there. Do you mean buy the calipers and pads online and rotors from local parts store?

yea sometimes i dont re read before i post haha. No what i meant was I can get the 2007 stock OEM calipers lets say at Napa and then order my brake rotors and pads from EBC online from Summit racing. You said to get them for a 2007 Yukon because they are one inch bigger. I also want a slotted and drilled rotor and i dont think you can get those from Napa. But a 2007 front brake set up will work on my 2005 Yukon, is that right Chauncey?? If so i will be ordering everything monday or this coming week some time

Yes, 2007 front brake setup will work for your truck. May I suggest not getting drilled. I've heard of them cracking around the holes near the center. Maybe because of cheap drilled rotors but I think you should be fine with just slotted unless you're going to be racing on an F1 track.
