Dealer is telling me they have some or other constraint for new Tahoe builds and that they have not been getting allotments in the past few months

Looking for z71, with 6.2. Anyone recently got their accepted for 6.2 and 2025 year model?

2026 order banks open on July 10.

Assuming 2025 order banks are closed. You’ll have to wait to order a 2026 or buy a 2025 on the lot somewhere

Got a 25 HC incoming.
The dealer is correct about the constraints though. If I wanted a HC delux, I would probably have been out of luck.

Order accepted may. Built in June.
Shipped last week.

According to the info, 26's don't start building until mid September sometime. Since the 25 was a refresh I wouldn't think many tooling changes would be required. Going from previous years it seems August is the stop for previous MY.
Just a 2C thought.

I know for sure the Order Bank for 25 PPV is closed but cannot say that applies to retail.

I googled it and it says will carry on through summer.

Doesn't retail production usually stop in the summer so they can begin next model year in September?

GM Authority says this:

According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 GMC Yukon is scheduled to begin on September 8th, 2025. Dealers will be able to begin configuring the vehicle online and saving orders on July 10th, 2025.

Yes, we placed an order on 6/2/25, and it was accepted 6/27/25. Seems to be in line with what I've read online. Our concern was that our dealership is tiny. They have 1 Tahoe on the lot that hasn't sold in a month and a half, and zero Suburbans. So the concern was that people mention custom orders are better when going through a high volume dealer. Lakeshore blue HC with HC deluxe, nothing else. At any given time, there seem to be 8-14 identical vehicles nationwide, many in transit. One that was going to a Dallas dealer already gone in < 4 days. That made me wonder, do "orders" appear on the web as well? Or not...the vehicle had pics posted so I downloaded them. I'm thinking a dealer won't go through that trouble for an ordered car. I'd really like to know the ins and outs...

That's what we ordered and it was accepted on Friday, took almost 4 weeks to go from preliminary to accepted. But my understanding this also is dependent on the dealer applying an available allocation. So if constraints, it won't be in preliminary, from what I've read online...we really wanted air ride and magnetic ride control.

btw, there are always 8-14 exact matches to our order, at any given time, most of which are in transit...what I do is to search matches to my build on the website, then use LA, Chicago, and my own zip code in Phila., and expand the distance to the max of 2000 miles. Now I can see all the cars nationwide.

I ordered a Z71 with 5.3l , tech package and magnetic and air ride, Feb 25th. My dealer swore he had allocations available when I ordered. My order is still in preliminary as of July 1st. My dealer ordered a High Country after my order was placed and it is on his lot right now. I am beyond frustrated and PO'd with General Motors.

Id be more pissed with your individual dealer than I would be with GM. Sounds like they lied to you about have a Z71 allocation available.

Side note: That is the exact build I plan on ordering with the 2026 order banks go live in a week or so. Send photos once you get yours

I plan on canceling my 2025 order and going to another larger dealer to order a 2026 when orders open.

Got word from GM dealer who looped in Area Sales manager. My 25 z71 order will be cancelled and the 26 order bank is open from July 17

Did they share if they’ll have access to any ordering/package changes before then or are they releasing that info + opening the order banks at the same time?

The dealer only said that when they are about to place the order on July 17th, they will work with me on the packages.

According to the information shared by GM Area Sales Manager to the dealer, there is no difference between the 2025 and 2026 models.

High Country CK10706/3LZ/GXP/HVB

Our dealership informed us yesterday afternoon, that our vehicle has a TPW of 7/28/25. They said likely we'd be picking it up in August. In collectively trying to combine the info I've found online, this would imply 3 mos, from sitting down and placing the order, to delivery--about 1 month sooner than I calculated.

Unfortunately I think the ordering process is inconsistent and mythical, so I'll just throw up our timeline thus far. We ordered from a small dealership. In reading posts online, I wondered if we made a mistake....vs. say the Texas or Chicago or even a Baltimore dealership down the road, who have 10-19 Tahoes on the lot (in my area usually 0-2, one "big" dealership has 4). Some of these far away dealerships are showing $5k off on their websites (my suspicion is they have dealer add ons which reduce or eliminate the discount). I'll say it again, we got $3900 off a custom order, no add ons--good, bad, ugly. Most dealers where we live show $0 discount online, one actually adds $1400 to every car!

On the Chevy website, the order still says

Your vehicle order has been accepted by General Motors and is moving toward the production process. Please keep in touch with your dealership for the most up-to-date information, or check back later for a status update.

So that does imply that the dealer has more up to date info, than the virtual assistant/chat does.

You can see in my timeline below, that much information is from the dealer themselves, and it would seem this process absolutely is dependent on their integrity. Going in I had thought that we'd see everything online, which couldn't be further from reality.

One tip I have as an alternative? Look at "exact matches" from the Chevy website, and at vehicles in transit; potentially see if any of those dealers can discount. At any given time, there are about 10-19 exact matches to our order, nationwide, just never in our area. The only problem I see with buying off the lot, it would seem that the dealer holds the cards as they know we are looking specifically for something they have. I'd rather wait myself and remove the gamesmanship from the purchase. And I admit with the unbelievably high prices of cars, I'd rather have one built for us and skip add ons and unneeded options (24" rims, super cruise, rear screens).

One of my own questions that I answered myself, does GM know who I am on the order? Yes, they do. I received an email 5 days after the order showed accepted by chat:

congratulations-your 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe order has been received for production! You're officially one step closer to seeing your version of this vehicle come to life.

Make sure you keep an eye on your email for status updates about your vehicle's journey, so you can follow along from our factory to your dealership.

I wish everyone luck in this process, as it's such a major purchase and as I said, seems to be mythical and dealer dependent.

Here is our experience:

5/31/25 Place order with dealer, give refundable deposit of $500, states they do not have an allocation and it may be 4 months or longer for delivery
6/2/25 Dealer places order?
6/12/25 Sales manager emails order number, states its in preliminary status, website says, "Your order has been submitted by your dealer but has not officially been accepted by GM at this time."
6/27/25 Website shows order accepted by GM
7/2/25 Email sent from chevrolet.com that order has been accepted, shows the model, trim, color, and dealer name (does not show options)
7/5/25 Sales manager emails TPW of 7/28/25, states we'll know more about actual delivery once vehicle is further through production process

Has any explanation been given at all? imho the prelim status checks for constraints. If they exist, from what I understand, the order can be modified, so things can proceed. People normally can only wait so long for a vehicle, 3 mos is to be expected, but unless a specialty car like a ZR1, 6 mos or next model year generally doesn't work too well. Cancelled for what reason...I'm all for unlocking this mystery!

I happened to check online and the virtual assistant said our vehicle has been produced, shipping arrangements are next, and the dealer is the best source going forward. I do see that this entire process isn't really handled online, it feels like 2006 when I did this with BMW. 19 years have gone by though and there really wasn't any AI back then for online stuff. We have to rely upon the dealer for information. For example, what's the VIN? Basic stuff. So from ordering in person 5/31, the vehicle appears to have been produced last week, although it had a TPW of 7/28.

My dealer suggested I wait till end of Aug to place my '26 Denali order. He thinks there will be more info available then despite some of it available now. I also gave him something off the internet that stated a dealer may be able to delete certain items off the packages for a 2026, in my case the sun roof and the rear entertainment. Prior to that he thought no way he could do this. But now with a preorder and the info I gave him he is going to recheck the possibility. I really don't want to pay for things I don't want or won't use. Back in the day of course we could do this but now GM packages seem overly restrictive - take it or choose another "package", and then you will have the same issue. Very inflexible.

Maybe someone should start a thread called 2026 Orders and then we could all keep up with the latest info from those beginning the 2026 order process.
