Ok so Today I drove the beast up the road to run an errand , no problems driving it . the truck is not a Daily so it gets driven maybe 3-4 times a week for random errands or just weekend duty.

Anyways I got the truck home and As I was sitting in it Idling it started sputtering and then shut down. on Shut down the battery light flickered and then went off . I checked my terminals and then tried to start it . I attempted to start it 3- 4 times allowing enough time to let the starter cool between cycles . Starter sounds fine and it also sounds like it has more than enough juice to fire .

Sounds like a fuel issue. I had my wife try to start it while I listend for the fuel pump but to no avail . However about 2 hours later I tried again and it started fine then shut sputtered again to shut down maybe 3-4 seconds later. and a second attempt to start was a fail

Fuel pump was replaced at 100k
wife used the truck a few days ago and said she put gas in it 87 octane
BB Tune is for 89 (however I would just assume it would cause a ping or poor performance not these issues)
Truck now has 203k
1998 GMC yukon 4dr
besides snorkel and exhaust and tune no other engine mods

I ask because I may be missing something I always thought when A fuel pump goes bad its bad their would be no intermediate starting

if your battery light flickered and then went off as the engine died while the key was still on means 1. you lost power supplying positive voltage to the light. 2. the regulator in the alternator has failed. 3. the grounds between the engine control systems and available ground like a well connected and operational battery and alternator has been interrupted. if everything else works electrically then stick a test gauge on the pressure test part and also check you frame ground near the pump and seeing as how you have a 1998 test your fuel pump relay too.

I was actually thinking about the Fuel pump relay as well. Seeing as the vehicle is getting older I would imagine that the relay might be the issue . The alternator . could be the issue as well I replaced that around 100k as well after the first one Failed . I HIGHLY doubt the battery is bad because Im getting more than enough power to start and have lights on ect..

Im leaving today to go to North carolina . I have a spare relay for the Fuel pump so I will swap that out anyway to see if I have any change

well Just swapped relays to no avail . now I can't hear the pump again with either of them . Im just going to say F-It I don't have the time nor the patience to deal with it . going in the shop after my vacation

Didn't even think to check that . On second thought I will be doing the work myself LMFAO they want 780 bucks to do it . Uhm 550 bucks in labor they can stick that where they got it . Trucks going to get a mini overhaul here in the next week or two . Needs a tune up and the transfer case put in as well

well if you did need a pump the delphi's are about $147 right now at amazon. with the improvements implemented.
