Another radaitor!!!!

well at this rate i dont know when im gunna get my 35s tires for my rims :emotions122: so for the past two weeks my truck has been leaking coolant and suspect in case was the waterpump , at 190k i wasnt too upset but upon further investigation i found that my radaitor of 2 years is leaking again ?? and upon even further diagnose my fan wobbles like crazy so im pretty sure the fan clutch is shot as well , which is the only culprit i can come up with to terms of the premature failure of the radiator.... and i might as well replace the hoses as well seeing as i didnt do it last time . now to dig in my tire money once again my truck is FUBARD at the current moment as im thinking the 4wd actuator is bad as well
so new parts i got today
new fan clutch
new water pump
new hoses
and couldnt remember wether i had the 33 or the 40 inch radaitor so i got to go back to get that...
anybody got 12 hundred bucks i can borrow =)

Chevy Radiators suck... IMO. I've had several problems over the years.

There is no Chevy radiator. Either Delphi or delco and there is nothing wrong with them.

Whoever makes them.... from my view it's a chevy truck so it's a chevy radiator. Speaking from MY experience... they suck. Of course, that's just my opinion and I'm sure other people have had great experience with them. I've had 5 different radiators in the life of my 2 trucks. I guess it's possible I've had 5 lemons.

Sure there no under lying cause perhaps? Maybe mixture ratio or TSB on the issue. That does seem like lot. Mine is oem Delphi and is at 243k. And a kit of others have similar time on it and are still original. I could swear that at one time I saw oil leak from the cooler section but that was months ago. Personally my oem fuel pump was acting up at 1/3 power so it got replaced today. Talk About a rocket ship. Next time you need one Nd if you are not sure you had one beforehand get a Delphi unit there are the oem supplier. And at amazon Delphi parts are 50 -60% of local store prices. Since they get them direct with out going thru distribution centers and what not.

What if, the radiator is out a GMC though? Then it's not technically a "Chevy" radiator? lol

Also, between my 2 OBS trucks I've owned, I replaced a radiator once in my beater 93 ECSB 1500. Never in the Tahoe.

yea its 1200 for tires im going to do it myself the only thing ive never changed is a fan lutch but it doesnt look to hard like 4 bolts

Only ever put in two radiators, both on the suburban. Once because it leaked, the second time it was full of metal.....

I would like to know how hard it would be to upgrade to the 1 ton radiator. I believe that its either a 3 or 4 pass for better cooling.

Perhaps there is some other problem, but I'm not sure what it could be. I don't beat on my trucks, but I do use them. Especially, the 97' 3/4 ton... it is my farm truck. Maybe I've just had some bad luck when it comes to radiators... and STUPID fuel pumps. I'm on my 3rd fuel pump in my 97 chevy... and from the sounds of it my current one is soon to go out. :emotions122:

obs has square connectors on pump electrical connector which would burn out and sometimes takes the pump with it. new improved one out. 4dr that is. also clean pump ground on left frame well. as for the rad maybe being on the farm something it hitting it from below or airflow is clogged from debris in field.

I used the aluminum one off of ebay and I love it. It's big and all metal. IMO all radiatiors with plastic tanks suck. Don't forget to convert to EL fans! The 40" will fit 2 16" fans side by side. Also a pic of the welds on the aluminum rad

You should have gone with electric fans instead of the old clutch fans changed mine about two weeks ago and love them.
