Researching Long tube headers since both my manifolds are on their way out. Speed engineering seems less “bolt on” and work than I have time for. American Trucks seems more “one Saturday in the garage” which is more towards my skill set.
American Trucks LT

^^ Does anyone have experience with these ?

You'll need a tune either way. I do like those because it looks like there may be room to add catalytic converters after the collectors, but before the bends/joints.

Yeah I have a list of other things that’ll require a tune so I’m not super worried lol

I would skip those because they are pretty small. Most LS based headers these days have at least 1.75" primaries with 3" collectors but even stock 5.3s will only gain if you go even up to a 1.875 (1 7/8) to 3". I have speed engineering on my ls1 trans am and they are ok for the price. A friend put a set on my old 05 Tahoe and the only real issue was steering shaft clearance but he thinks some of that is worn out motor mounts. Otherwise they went in and worked fine.

As for install he did it when he swapped engines but they looked like they were similar to a set of Texas Speed headers I did on an 02 Silverado which basically fell right in with no trouble otherwise.

Yeah, if the collectors were 3" I'd be all over them.

I do think a stock 5.3 would benefit from them, but not as much as the Speed engineering stuff, with its much larger Y-pipe.
