Is anyone running aftermarket headlight assemblies? I recently hit a deer and was thinking about upgrading anyway, so here's the push to do it :(

Usually aftermarket headlights are not an "upgrade". Most perform the same or worse than OEM. If youre going to swap projectors, etc then go ahead, but out of the box most are not better (and Im being nice. Ive never seen one that was better, but thats not saying there isnt one out there.)

When I bought a 2007 YukonXL in 2015, the front right headlight had an inch of water in it, so I felt forced to do something before winter. The headlights also had the worst light output of any car I have owned. So I modified the headlight assembly with an aftermarket Morimoto D2S 4.0 projector. The light output is great now. BUT ... I have had three of these projectors go bad:( The solenoid that moves the high-beam/low-beam shutter has stopped working on three separate projectors. TheRetrofitSource.com has replaced these three under warranty, but the hassle of tearing apart the headlight assembly to replace them has not been worth it (understatement). So I would recommend looking for something that does not have moving parts in the headlight.

The headlight modules are not terribly expensive new, so just replace them and add some nice LEDs and things will be much better.
