I've been diagnosing an issue with AC for a while now. AC is intermittent. Some things to note:
1) Compressor clutch is engaged. This isn't a clutch issue
2) Low side pressure is around 109psi when it's 80 degrees outside before starting the vehicle
3) High side pressure stays around 128psi when the AC is not working properly. Solenoid is 100%
4) High side pressure is around 200psi when the AC is working properly. Solenoid is 60%
I changed the compressor and expansion valve. Recharged with r1234yf.
Basically, everything will be great, evaporator temperature around 39 degrees. Then all of a sudden, high side pressure drops and evaporator temperature climbs to above ambiant. After a few minutes, high side pressure builds again and the evaporator temperature goes back down.
At this point I'm starting to wonder if there is a problem with the PWM solenoid circuit.
Curious if anyone has had this issue.
