99 tahoe

Hi guys Im new to this page and to the tahoe world. Im looking at a 1999 tahoe with 98K on it. I read the sticky thread but I was wondering if there was any suggestions on what I should ask or look for additionally. If I buy it im going to have a mechanic run through it. What should I have him look for?

just try to get one with all the goodies like leather, hd cooling and things like that. your mech might be interested in this list below but look closely at conditions of all the fluids used.

a 99 with only 98k id definatly pay close attention to the fluids because with low miles like that its probably been sitting for along time

thanks for the response. The truck has gone from 96K to 98K in a month so I think its being driven. whats a good price point. Right now I have the guy at $3,700.

Not necessarily. GM started using the 5.3 in 1999.

that started in the gmt800 suv platform in 2000. the trucks model year with new engine designs started in 1999 but were actually first sold in 1998.

no it was still a gmt400 platform then for the tahoe. you should have a 5.7l engine.

I recently bought a '99 SLE with 104K, so it reads???
I was surprised that it had the newer spider and FP, although both needed replacement. Cats were shot and the computer was a mess. It now runs great!

I had a 1999 Suburban with a 5.3L. My brother had a 99 Silverado with the same...

so I got the guy down to $3,100. the truck has 98K on it and the interior is basically spotless. Anything else I should be looking for or have my mechanic look for?

Properly functioning a/c front and rear. The right fluids in the right places.

Still not buying this 5.3l vortec in a '99 suv. I would need to see the actual VIN sticker on door to believe it. The suv's were not supposed to get them till 2000.

I know there were a very select few OBS trucks that got 5.3's. We had an extended cab z71 in the shop once when I was in tech school. Our instructor thought it was dropped in until we looked at the vin. Never heard of one in a tahoe though. Besides, I like the 5.7's better anyway. Early 5.3's weren't all that great imo. 03+ when they were drive by wire is when they got good.
