99 escalade color change

so the tan just isnt doing it for me.. im going to do the truck in black.. this is the one in a million projects im doing right now so progress will be slow...
Headliner is first, for about 30$ in materials this is what i came up with. keep in mind im not a pro and there are some flaws..

now this little guy here is for the dvd player.. it annoyed me it wasnt flush so i figured while i was going through all this work i would fix that..

now with the dvd player up front the factory light was removed.. i think the light looks 10x better than the one that was for the back so im putting it in the back.. still have to cut out the console and rear speaker covers..

thanks guys.. i have done this before but im not a professional, just a tinker'er(sp?).. so i had a crazy idea hit me.. how about rhino lining the plastic trim peices, not including the dash or door cards or center console? im not looking for a show rig but something when i get into it im not saying what a pos...

looks good man, not sure on how the rhino lining would hold up on a plastic. Is that stuff flexible?

yea its flexible, basically its a rubber coating.. it was just a thought.. i got the speaker grills done and the center console done..

got the headliner 90% in, still have to put the visor clips up and the front pass oh shit handle on..

also got the dash started..

looks black right??? not when the sun hits it..i thought it was bleed through but it actually is brown, can says black.. i used rustoleum vinyl paint on the dash, to where ive used duplicolor fusion for everything else ive done.. so looks like im going to have to do this agian with the duplicolor.. ill give it 24hrs to dry first

i know im not going to get it perfect the PO scratched a bunch of the brown off somehow.. thats the defects in the last picture.. i just want it black.. i cant begin to tell you how annoyed i am.. this is the second rustoleum product that i have used thats supposed to be black and turns brown in the sun.. first was their bedliner stuff...

got the dash finished up.. trim up to a pillars are done but it was too dark for pictures..

center console is done, but not assembled.. figured i would do something a little custom looking so here is the teaser..

thats how it looks in natural light.. but it is shiny and here is a flash pic, doesnt really look like this in person

that about does it for now.. engine change is about to get underway, so progress will be really slow

Very nice!!! I love a dark colored interior! Our 99 Denali had the gray/dark gray interior. If we'd kept it I was going to redo it the interior in black and charcoal. Having the 3 kids would not allow us to keep it though :-/

Im done with the 2 kids i have.. Someone took the liberty of getting the aftermarket 3rd row seats for this thing.. Thats another reason im going through everything to keep this truck.. But ive chose to do this because of the 2 kids.. im tired of it always looking dirty.

Great thread! Im looking into doing this my tan interior is all messed up too, I'll keep the seats tan I think though and go with black everything else? Or respray the seats(properly) a saddle, that would look sweet. ANYWAYS

How hard is it to get the headliner out, pretty straight forward? Just a few clips etc? I dont need a whole walkthrough

headliner isnt to bad.. all the side panels need to come out, and anything else attached to the headliner.. to get the pillar panels out you will need to remove the seat belts which require a t50 bit.

got the back just about done.. this is a sport utility vehicle and ive always thought it lacked the utility part in the back.. so the back is hurculined and any other carpet areas in the back were done as well. its still a little bit blotchy because its wet..
