9 miles per gallon!!

Hello All!

My 2019 Tahoe LT (5.3L) is only getting 9-10 mpg while towing a 5,000 boat on the freeway at 65-75 mph. On my 2015 Tahoe I was able to get 14-15 mpg towing the same boat. Even back to my 2010, the mileage was never this bad.

Tow switch is engaged. The 'hoe has 75,000 miles on it.

Any ideas!?!?!

Check to see if you have a stuck brake caliper, dragging parking brake, clogged air filter, etc.

What kind of mileage are you getting not towing?

Since you get decent fuel economy when you are not a towing. I was suspect the trailer is the culprit. Does the trailer have surge brakes if so are the adjusted properly?

Remember that gasoline can have alcohol mixed with it. The more alcohol there is, a less the gas mileage is.

i'll check this. i can push it around the yard with help from the wife (with no boat/she's not that strong!)

Get your RPO codes from your glovebox and post the photo here, it really sounds like you have a 3.08 rear gear, if so that could be part of the issue. Do you use tow haul button and lock it in 4th or 5th gear on the trans?

When you're towing do you see the AFM dropping cylinders on easy cruise? Not sure how this works in tow mode.
