Has anyone ever try an engine strap (Torque strap) to save motor mounts from breaking?

Back in the day some sort of a strap or chain was used to help with the twisting torque.

Probably best just to get polyurethane motor mounts.

What type of setup are you referring to or thinking about that might be helpful to have those types of restraints?

I'm pretty sure that there are some hp/torque specs/ranges where this type of containment may be recommended published in the street/track communities.

For our stock and even significantly modified setups, I don't think that would be seen as a recommended item, as long as you had strong motor mounts.

My LS motor can use H3 motor mounts, and they can take a lot of hp/torque and will likely outlast the truck, but they are not compatible with your LT motor.

I was thinking of just restricting some of the twisting the motor mounts.
Would have to be homemade.
There are polyurethane motor mounts on the market, would like to think that they would hold up better.

I have them in my truck.. I purchased them directly from Atomic Fabrication (AF Motor mounts)

I ordered the 1/2" lower kit so I can't speak for the standard height ones, but assuming they are the same.

Quality is OUTSTANDING. Even my mechanic was like "wow" and he's got a 68 Nova he's been bracket racing for decades.

The poly bushings will give you a little bit of a vibration when you are on the brake at a stop light. Took me by surprise at first but I hardly notice it anymore.

You WILL NOTICE the power to the wheels difference from the lack of the motor torquing. Granted, I have a blower on my truck, so the effect was amplified, but it was without a doubt night and day difference.
