235 vs 265 winter

About to put winters on Yukon XL. I found an amazing deal ($700) on a set of black rims and 265/75/17 nokian suv tires/like new. Or I could use my jeep winters (jeep is in storage) studded nokians LT235/75/15 load E and throw them on the stock rims.
I feel inclined to get the rims as its such a good deal, but am wondering if it is smarter to use a skinnier tire for winter, on the other hand maybe 235 is too skinny, what would you do?

I would get what the min the truck calls for. Anything less and the tires might not be able to handle the load. Check the weight rating on the side of the tire then check the load rating. You might over load the smaller tires with your truck.

orig tire was 245 in a P tire rating, the skinnier 235 tire is a LT higher load rating.

The LT 235 tire can more that handle the weight of the truck. I would ck the width of the jeep wheels compared to the width of your stock gm wheels. They may to skinny to properly fit the wheels, otherwise they will work just fine.

Generally speaking, the skinnier the better in snow and ice, too. Just make sure they work with the truck.
