Looking at a 26 Tahoe with 6.2 engine. Premium fuel is recommended. Anyone running regular fuel having issues?

As many have said before if you’re buying one of these 6.2l trucks it’s absolutely better to use premium fuel.
Don’t get a high horsepower high performance truck if the price of fuel is a deal breaker.

In a previous 6.0l Chevy van I ran regular and premium just to see and there was a noticeable difference in performance and fuel economy. Much better mileage with premium and it just seemed to run better and tow better when I ran premium.
I did numbers for the fuel economy and highway mileage at 70-75 mph was easily a 2 mpg difference.
Around town and stop and go not much difference.
The 6.2l is higher performance engine than that 2014 6.0l.

Since I got my Tahoe High Country I only put premium and change the oil at 3-4k miles.
Most of my driving is conservative but I do love to hit the throttle on the 6.2l!
High performance, high compression it’s a beautiful thing and I run 93 octane and mostly Exxon Mobil.
I just guessing but any one who complains about performance, noises or other issues with a new 6.2l is probably putting cheap fuel in their trucks.

If you want fuel economy buy a Prius!

I run 93 octane premium top tier fuel mostly from Costco and I also use RedLine fuel systems cleaner to keep everything clean and running properly.

Even if that's true, there is another very likely possibility:

If you can afford a brand new vehicle's depreciation, but you can't (won't?) afford 91 / 93 for your 6.2L, something is VERY wrong with your maths.
Having said that, regardless of octane, regardless of oil viscosity, regardless of any customer choice, the L87 was an avoidable blight on GM's reputation,
and they're not doing anywhere near enough to make it up to their buyers because they're too busy tickling their shareholders' taints.

Get the Diesel. That's what I did. Enough power and torque. More than the 5.3, splitting hairs in most areas with the fuel cost, but my combine MPG has been around 22 for short town drives, and 35-36 for family trips when mostly highway.

I only use high octane top tier gas for my 2026.
I did this with my 2017 Ford Expedition and the engine, plugs, lifters…everything…was spotless at 100k miles. Better gas mileage as well.

When I can find zero ethanol gas, I use that…bumps mpg up 2 minimum.

Right now Im getting 17-19mpg city and 23mpg highway…with DFM OFF!!

Far better than my ecoboost v6 twin turbo ever got!!

I have a 2023 GMC PU with a 6.2. I have ran regular gas since I bought it new. No problems and it runs as good as with premium. I ran 4 different grades of gas form 86 octane to 93 octane, with a scan tool to check the total spark advance under full throttle. It made no difference. I only got 20 degrees of advance, under full throttle, running it till it toped out at 112. under light throttle it would get in the mid 55's. I'm at 3200 ft. elevation.
