The other day I started my 2025 Tahoe and the HVAC was blowing at top speed and the touch screen was non-responsive. I turned off the system with off switch below the screen. Shut the vehicle off and restarted it. I turned the system back on and the screen was back working. Weird. I noticed the check engine light was now on.

So, I make an appointment to have the dealer check for codes and issues. Got busy and didn’t use the vehicle for a day. Jumped in started it and found it “fixed” its self and the check engine light was now off.

So, cancelled the appointment at the dealer and I will keep an eye on this, having this vehicle under warranty is a good thing….

These things are like driving computers now; a good reset fixes a lot of glitches.

Hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

The check-engine light should have triggered a stored code that the dealer could have retrieved. If it happens again, I’d suggest taking it to the dealer for diagnosis.

Former SA friend that became the SM @ my last P car dealership described modern cars as computers w / cars attached, no argument here.

Question, just curious. Does your touchscreen actually control anything other than the audiosystem?

While I'm on my long weekend trip this week. We stopped for about 10 minutes. And when we came back there was zero audio in the vehicle. Not even the turn signals would tick. Absolutely nothing. Tried everything. Reset the system. No audio whatsoever in any function including the entertainment. Thought maybe we had lost a module or something. Stop somewhere for about 10 minutes, again. Got back in, started it up. All the audio was back. No big deal. Have zero explanation for this. Hope it never happens again.

What is this 2005?

Pretty much controls most things in the car. Heated seats, audio, all vehicle settings, suspension settings, drove modes, etc. trailer control settings, CarPlay, nav, YouTube, Netflix, hbo max, Amazon prime, dealership service app, Google assistant, more apps I don’t remember. . Digital dash display settings, full climate control, built in dash camera and playback, 360 cam, I could go on and on!

My 2025 Denali LZ0 has been doing this on and off since new last July. The touch screen freezes randomly then returns to normal in minutes or days, with or without a CEL.

Been back to the dealer 8 times with an obligatory software update. I am sadly and reluctantly considering to start to start a case for a buyback. I was hoping to spend my time traveling and otherwise enjoying the truck.

I have been keeping a log of failures this these past few months and would be happy to share with you or others experiencing this issue.

Yea that’s unsat for sure. I’d be pissed. Did they replace the entire screen yet? I’m sure you or the dealer did a hard reset on the truck and unhooked the battery for 5 min?

Luckily my 2026 don’t have freezing issue but the sound cuts out when I try to text sometimes…..

It’s annoying but I’m hoping it will resolve itself with a future SW update; not bringing it in for that just yet.
