2023 orders open?

Since I'm debating between a Suburban RST and a Yukon XL SLT, I thought I'd try to put in an order for each and see what happens. Well a short time ago my Chevy dealer called me and told me that the 2023 orders just opened up and my name came up for putting in a Suburban order. Unfortunately I have max tow package and the diesel engine in my config and both of those are still constrained for 2023. He asked if I was willing to pass on the diesel engine and I said "no", so he said my name will just sit on top of the list until those things go off constraint.

So I guess the good news is 2023 orders are open but the bad news it is more of the same with respect to constraints?

Anyone else hearing the same thing about 2023 orders?

I don't think they are open. Even the FLEET date is 5/19, and the order guides aren't even posted yet

As of earlier this evening, i talked to my buddy whos a salesperson and while they didnt get an allocation for a tahoe this week, he did say that the end of may is the cutoff for ordering 2022s. Whem the orders can start being placed for the 2023s? He did not know yet.

One of my dealers said 2022 orders are still in effect for two more weeks, and the '23 books are not open yet.

Rumor is that the new LZ0 diesel is going to have a lot more emissions equipment to deal with ever-escalating EPA requirements over the next few years. If you want the diesel, you might want to push for a '22.

I don't believe the 2023 SUV's will be getting the new LZ0 diesel. The LZ0 is only going into the pickup trucks for 2023. Even the GMC Denali Ultimate recently announced only talks about the LM2 engine, and I doubt they'd have different diesels within the same model line. From GM Authority:

Just like the standard GMC Yukon Denali, the Denali Ultimate trim will come standard with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque and mated to a GM 10-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift. The 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, which is rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, is also available on this trim level as a no-cost option.

Even if it stays a LM2 it will be required to have 10% more emissions controls with unknown effects on fuel economy, DEF consumption and general drive ability. A 2022 seems a much safer bet

Maybe you guys are right about 5/19 and my Chevy dealer was smoking something....I asked the GMC dealer I was planning on ordering the Yukon XL from and he said he can't put in 2023 orders yet either. I guess we will know soon enough as that is only 3 days away....

At this point I'm more interested in getting more info on initial constraints, pricing increases for the 2023 model year and that black accessory grill with Chevrolet lettering that is coming. Depending on how that grill looks and its cost, I might be willing to step down from the RST to the LT model and save a couple thousand...

If orders are open my dealer didnt mention it as im waiting for an allotment for my MY22 tahoe order when i talked to him yesterday. And they havent updated their website either to reflect the MY23 yet either. The sterling gray is a new color for chevy(at least) as i went thru all of their 22 vehicles and none have that color, so who would order a color thats never been even broadcast. I suppose 23s could be open, but thoseare likely like the current 22s waiting for allotments once gm accepts orders.

My 22 Tahoe order was just accepted for production. So I am not messing with that order. I also do have a 22 Yukon order that is still pending GM acceptance. That one I think could possibly be converted to a 23. We will see. The order was put in this week for the Yukon. Estimated 4-6 months.

The GMC dealer I am working with said the same thing--he could technically put in a 2023 order now, but since no pricing is available it is going to get kicked back anyway once pricing is established. So it sounds like I might as well wait until pricing is established.
