Hey guys and gals,

I have a 2022 Chevy Tahoe Police I picked up recently. Looking for any advice or recommendations on things I should do and look out for with it. I've had silverados before and am aware of the transmission and AFM problems these vehicles are notorious for. Anything I can do now to keep the longevity of this? It has 45k miles on it. Is the DFM disabler from Range Tech. worth it?

I also seen someone tried replacing the 8 inch touch screen with a 10 inch. Im assuming you probably need to upgrade the APIM to utilize the 10 inch and reprogram to your vin to avoid the theft system from activating.

Im also assuming there's no remote start with these? Kind of shocking cause I have a 2021 explorer police interceptor that has just about every basic new model vehicle feature.

Kind of surprised with the lack of features chevy has with these base model vehicles.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Take the truck to a local trusted auto repair shop and have it COMPLETELY inspected. Fix anything that appears in the inspection. PPV's are generally well maintained, so you may not find anything significant.

Change ALL fluids - coolant, brake, front and rear differentials, transmission. Then, you have a baseline that you know is valid, fluids-wise.

Disable the DFM with any quality available device.

Once the above essential items are complete, then you can start to think about discretionary/comfort/cool features/mods to add to the truck.

Soon as you notice 0.5 Quart -1.0 Quart of oil consumption do not add oil, just change all the oil & filter.
Make note of the Oil Life Monitor %age remaining when when you do this, stay consistently ahead of that percentage going forward.
Extending oil-&-filter change intervals shortens engine longevity, up to you by how much.
Same goes for the ATF, yes, even this fancy@$$ ATF.

GM tries to lower per-vehicle cost by making 9C1s with less content available.
If you want more features you'd have to find a vehicle that was NOT used for typical patrol duty - a commander's car, as it were.
(Back in '97 I bought my 1st of three Caprice 9C1-LT1, manual windows/door locks/mirrors, no radio at all, only power feature was power steering -
and it actually had LESS power assist than an ImpalaSS with the exact same steering ratio box, and no it was not from lack of maintenance.)

Always YES. If it also disables Auto Stop Start, the answer is ALWAYS YES!, GOTTDAMNT!
If at all possible, unplug it/disconnect it before visiting dealership, then reconnect when you get it back from dealership. Ignore at your own risk.
Definitely will do, I've already been eyeing up a range tech dfm disabler for a pretty good price. Will more than likely go ahead and pick it up to prevent any complications.

Haha, definitely will do. I've had a few chevys before I switched to ford and thankfully haven't had any lifter problem with them. Although the transmissions on the other hand are definitely hit or miss. I haven't had much luck at all with the transmissions. Especially with Fords 10 speed.

Man I could imagine the features LT's have in their vehicles. I have intention on getting everything checked out to ensure reliability. Dont wanna take the risk on something fluid wise being low and ruining what little it already has lol.

Those are highly desirable. Daytime Running Lights disabled. Engine Stop-Start disabled. I'm jealous.

Do you want your 2022 Tahoe being kept as police version or being converted back to civilian version?

There are quite jobs involved to switch back to civilian version.
