hello, my daughter has this 21 5.3 Yukon with 60,000 miles. we always change the oil and filter sooner than the oil life because she does alot of around town driving. i noticed lately it was down 2 quarts. Anyone run into this issue? ive heard about issues with these engines, but no oil burning. thanks,Ray

Do you do your own engine oil and filter changes? You said “we always change the oil and filter …”.

Is it possible an incorrect amount of oil was put in the engine with the last oil change?

The owner’s manual for my 2024 Tahoe with the 5.3L engine states to wait at least two hours after engine shut-off before checking the engine oil.

Did you wait to check the oil after engine shutdown?

My question to you is how did you know that the oil was down 2 quarts? Did you measure the amount of old oil that came out of the oil pan when you drained it? The maximum oil drop that you can see on the oil dip stick is down 1 quart, if the measured oil level is down to the 4th set of holes on the dipstick.

Verify the condition first. Top off oil. Take a picture of the dipstick. Drive the same number of miles (approximate). Evaluate.

You may have had lower oil level to start with.

I still don't see the answer to how often you check her oil? Problems can start at any time. I check mine every other day. At least you should check once a week.
Plus, the oil may not have been filled properly.
