Having had my 2011 SSV for 8 Years, the wife and I decided to do an equipment upgrade. Friday morning, I flew to Chicago to pick up a 2020 SSV Tahoe from Chicago Motors. Within two hours I was on my way back to North Carolina with it. The car is way better than the pictures. 86K on the clock with low engine hours. What a pleasure to do business with them. I know I haven't posted in a few years, but I am eager to learn some new stuff. I haven't been able to locate the RPO sticker. I'll upload some pics soon, as I am beat from driving all day.

Our 2019 didn't have the RPO sticker. Was a QR code on the driver's door jam but I ran the VIN through a Chevy site and got all the codes. Some years back, don't actually remember what the site was. Sounds like a good buy on that machine, good year too.

That's where our '18 Tahoe PPV came from. It replaced our '10 PPV. It wasn't a completely drama-free experience, but some of the drama was caused by our Credit Union.

The truck's been pretty solid. Do a scan, though. Ours had a code that had been cleared. CM claimed they knew nothing of it, and it's possible, depending on how many start/run cycles the truck would get after being retired. It wasn't a big deal, just an unwanted surprise on our new-to-us truck. So far, so good, though.

here is a couple of pics. I kind of forgot how to post here. After doing some research I think it's not a PPV or SSV but a Tahoe Fleet. any thoughts ?

You still haven't looked in the glovebox yet?

EDIT: I was unaware of when the RPO sticker moved from the glovebox to the B-pillar.

5C1 is some sort of 'plexiglass panel' on the left hand side. I can find no other info on that.

Judging by the lack of a spotlight and the full-length front spoiler, I'd guess it's a standard Tahoe. It does have the steel wheels, but does it have other hints of service, like rubber mats or signs of a second battery? I know these things can be added or deleted options when ordered, but that's what I'd look for.

rubber flooring and no second battery, however there are signs of drilled holes in the headliner and rear plastic where lights have been installed, also in the second battery tray there are holes maybe from a siren speaker. cloth in the front and vinyl second seat with no third row. definitely a utility vehicle. Carfax had it listed as a Tahoe Fleet spending it's life around San Antonio TX. It's looks almost identical to my 2011, except that it has Tahoe badges. It doesn't have the extra 8gage wiring going to the rear as well. So I guess it's just a low end LS. That being said it was a great deal and a fun field trip to Chicago.

It's not an LS when it has steel wheels and rubber floor, there's probably some fleet code to it.
You should try to find another police one with a listed vin to check the codes to see what it shows as and if you are lacking any of the HD parts. It could be this new way of running the rpo codes its just not showing 9C1 or the designation. There's been codes missing on some of the stuff I've looked up.

I found this on the build sheet that i downloaded. code GAM-Vehicle GOVT(G.S.A.) YK6- identification (SEO). GSA to the best of my knowledge is the General services Administration , maybe that will help

My truck is also catalogue code 5C1.. i don’t think it has much relevance to the actual model but probably more in reference to fleet sales vs retail, but not entirely sure . . .

Do you have Z56 police chassis package? RAP - steel wheels ? 6J3 - headlight flasher ?

Any idea on what entity actually owned it? Whose name was on the title ? If it was federal, us gov is known to have some peculiar fleet vehicles. Could have been just a regular Tahoe ordered with steel wheels and rubber floors. Or ordered with rubber floors and aLloy rims and someone slapped the steel wheels on. Pretty sure gov/fleet buyers have more flexibility with options than normal retail buyers but idk

Either way, looks like a nice ride. Congrats

no Z56, no 6J3, wheels are RD6 steel wheels design 2, must have been some govt entity that ordered it, otherwise how did Chicago Motors end up with it. however, Carfax said it was titled a personal vehicle but there are signs of removed lights and where a siren speaker was up front. I appreciate the info.

I'm on my 4th truck from them, they're good folks if you're careful with what you pick out. Do your rear doors/ windows work? I had some work to do on mine to get all of that sorted out.

Nice to see another NC'er here, looking forward to getting mine back on the road so I can get to work faster, lol.

They've been around a while now selling police vehicles. They're usually high on price but seem to have pretty nice vehicles unlike some other dealers that get the cheapest ones they can find.

You can save a lot of money if you have one of those auction places that sell them close enough to check out in person.

I'm very happy with mine, rear doors and windows work fine. Also, very happy with the price. I looked at on in southern Virginia that was a pc of crap 2 years older and 4k more dollars. so yes, I would definitely buy again from Chicago Motors.
