Yes, it would unlock manually if you pull on the handle a second time. But sadly, I think we are dealing with a few people who would have difficulty finding their way out of a paper bag...

I run into those people on a daily basis, multiple times a day actually.
ya know, I know and I freely admit I am part idiot, even though on a typical aptitude scale I score in the 87%+ percentile of Americans, that's the scary part
I know I don't know diddly about squat but ****** there are some idiots out there......

Our 90 VW lost a battery and locked me in. Both the plastic door pins had broke off too. Literally no way out in pre cell phone days. Fortunately an employee at the market saw me and came over.

They couldn’t stop laughing at me. I got lucky and was able to pass the key off the ring through the sunroof opening for them to let me out.

Sketchy, but also very funny.

My guess is, the wife was in the back seat and the child safety locks were on.

Otherwise just pull the handle two times.

My Corvette has a special secret- squirrel door handles on the floor board beside the seats that can be used if battery dies while someone is inside the car. Thankfully, the Tahoe's double-pull system is easier.
