2015 Yukon SLT - Sunroof No Power

This might already be somewhere but I couldn't find it and hope this helps someone else out. My power sunroof stopped working one day and figured it was just a blown fuse. Replaced the fuse located on the passenger side fuse (#21 S/Roof 30A) and still no power. After some research I tried the fuse for the SEO Rap 10A (#8) in the drivers side fuse box and bam.. that solved the problem.

Are you certain that there is no power making it to the motor? To me the most likely suspect would be the switch, have you checked it?

Great tip, Thanks!! I had exactly the same problem, and replacing that fuse on the left side saved me from tearing the whole thing apart. I have had other weird electrical issues occasionally. hopefully this will fix them, also. THANK YOU !

Mine keeps blowing the fuse as soon as I replace the fuse. I'm not an electrical wizard but I'm assuming that's no bueno.

Mine started doing the same. Sunroof stopped working and replaced the #8 and immediately blown fuse.

This was posted in the Electronics section, it may help. "I had the same issue...#8 blowing continuously and sunroof stopped working. The problem was the wire harness going to the wireless charger on the console cover. The wire insulation cracked at the hinge, so every time I opened the console the fuse would blow. This was on a 2016 Tahoe. Discovered it when the console smelled like an electrical fire"

Its not that harness. Its my outlet behind the console and sunroof that dont work. Maybe AC inverter?

Had the same issue on a 2015 Yukon SLT. Drivers side fuse panel #8 was blowing.
The wireless charging lightning bolt was on all the time and then discovered the sunroof wasn't working.
Removed the back panel of the center console and noticed the harness on driver side was steeply bent, and yes, two of the three wires were broken.
Reconnected the wires and presto, no more blown fuses.

Yep, #8 just restored our sunroof as well. I looked for bent/crushed wires behind the console by removing the panel, but everything was good. Also it has opened and closed just fine 5 or 6 times. My guess is that we overloaded one of those rear outlets, or the inverter, and it just blew the fuse. Will follow up if it blows again.

Awesome suggestion. Was just about to take it in to be looked at, I bet I would've been told to replace the entire motor or some thing. I replaced the number eight fuse and bingo things are working again. Now to see if it blows again. thanks so much.

Had the exact same issue while on a trip. Once home, first checked the 30A (#21) fuse on the right side. Ckd OK. I found this thread and checked the #8 (10A) fuse on the left side and it was blown. Replaced and now it works. If it continues to blow the #8 I will look into the wiring harness as mentioned by others!

Can anyone share with me on this thread where the wiring harness is to fix this issue? My #8 fuse just keeps blowing every time I replace it and therefore I still don't have an operating sunroof. Thank you in advance for any help.

I had this same nonsense going on. I noticed some burnt residue by the sunroof switch too. I ordered a new switch. Number 8 fuse on driver side still blowing out. It would work until I opened the console.

I popped the console lid inner cover off and also removed the console rear panel (with the rear controls and ports on it). Wireless charger wire was still in its protective sheath, but there must have been a short inside.

I just disconnected the wireless charging connector (it never f’ing worked anyway).

So, new switch, new fuses on both sides and it’s good to go!

Had the exact same thing occur on my 2015 Yukon SLT. Replaced the 10 amp #8 fuse (driver's side) and it seemed to work. However, the next time I tried to open the sunroof, nada. To make sure it wasn't the sun roof causing the issue, I pulled the 30 amp sun roof fuse #21 (passenger side). Put a new 10-amp fuse in #8 and started it up. Turned it off and found the #8 had blown. So it (hopefully) wasn't the sunroof motor.

Then I re-read all the posts here and decided to check for broken wires leading to the wireless charging module.

Using a flashlight, I was able to see bare wires in the center console hinge area. I removed the wireless charging module cover under the charging pad and found that all 3 wires had broken and were shorted against each other. Since I have not upgraded the wireless charging module and charging mat, and have no intentions of doing so, I slipped heat shrink tubing over each wire, and applied heat. Then I heat shrunk all 3 together. If at some point down the road I decide to fork over $85 for an updated wireless charging module, I would be able to splice the wires.

Installed a new 10-amp fuse and the sunroof now functions properly.

You might be able to tape/heatshrink the ends without removing the module cover. You will need a pair of long, thin, needle-nose pliers to unhook the wire bundle from the hinge arm. Here’s a short video on how to remove the center console bottom cover:

I replaced the fuse, it blew! I checked the wiring harness and from what I can see, I don’t see anything damaged on the wires… anyone have this same issue? Please help!

I had same thing as Daddydave. I also had to replace the sunroof switch on the overhead. The switch along with disconnecting the console charge pad fixed it.
