Yes, it's become more affordable over the years.

Plus I can offset costs by selling my 2011 nav unit.

But really want to know likes and dislikes of the upgrade

The radio is definitely better. I have had issues with the navigation software but one day I'll update it and hopefully it fixes it. You can expect to get 350 ish for the existing nav for a quick sale.

I was one of the first to do it on here and I love it. Paid $1500 about 2 years ago when I did it. Love the internal HD for music, rarely do I ever actually use the nav function (use phone), but the interface is very clean and HD and USB are very fast for song searching. Im very pleased with it.

Is this really better then an aftermarket screen though? Seems like gm was really behind on their nnbs nav units.

Better than aftermarket in terms of features - definitely not. Interface is cleaned up a ton from the 07-11 models, but its still laggy. It just looks cleaner, fits perfect, and functions good for an OEM unit. I dont have any complaints about it, but you DO pay a much higher premium over aftermarket.

Glad i did it

I don't mean to steal a thread, but is it safe to assume that a nav unit is a working unit of it looks like this before it is programmed? I picked this unit up super cheap on ebay and I want to make sure it is functional before I spend the time installing it and money on programming it...
