Just wanted to post a few photos of my 2004 yukon xl that i have been slowly working on. Blew the transmission last week on the way to los angeles and now its back driving much better. I like the truck but sure wish that 4l60e was alot more reliable! First rebuild of the trans was done by a local shop less than a year ago and then they went out of business. Found they had installed used parts in my truck. So i was out 2800.00 for that rebuild with no recourse. At least im back on the road finally.

Bunch of parts were damaged and showed excessive wear on them when it was torn down.

Nice. Offroad alot? What's the long tube on the pass side of the rack?
Thats an awning that rolls out for some shade we use it alot with the kids during the summer or when it rains. We just use it for camping in the sierras and desert. Going to go do the mojave road in spring hopefully.

The 4x4 steel tube bumper is used as an air tank plumbed to the compressor which sits in the engine compartment.

That front bumper is a Trail Gear FJ 80 rock defense bumper grafted onto the frame of the yukon. Width is good and the sides will be extended back when i get some 2" steel tube.

Pretty slick. Where'd you get the awning from? I like what you did withe rear bumper too.
That awning is a smittybilt 8' awning from ebay. Its pretty well made for 200.00. Easy to install and sturdy. The air tank bumper wasnt useful until i found and welded all the air leaks shut! This yukon came to us in salvage condition so i dont mind chopping it up a a bit.

Those transmissions aren't bad when they're upgraded proper. Tood bad you were ripped off but it is good to hear that they're out of business and rightfully so!

Yeah seems like with transmissions you dont know til something happens this new transmission has upgraded new part for a change. Apparently the other shop just threw in a used transmission and painted the outside to make it look new. Oh well live and learn!
