Looking to replace my factory set-up on my 2002 Tahoe. I want an upgrade to factory. I have been looking around but getting fit information on the brand like pioneer, kenwood and Alpine has not easy.

So I am looking for a GPS Nav system (garmin type) and bluetooth are major desires. I have on-star but do not use it. Looking to replace speakers as well.i am not sure if I have the Bose and not sure how to check?

As you can tell I have more questions than answer. Any suggestion to a nice set-up. I would like to do my own install. Willing to spend 750 to 1500.

Thank you

Ray, does it say Bose on door speaker cover? If not, your probably not.

I'd do a 5 channel amp, replace door and rear door speakers. Component 6.5" up front with seperate mid/tweeter, and just a coax 6.5" in rear door and a single sub in back, off rear portion of 5 channel amp.
You can retain factory HU for now, until you get what you want.

welcome to the site BTW!

Tracy,
Thanks...After looking at a few things and looking at original window sticker it states it is a 9 speaker system with sub-woofer.
There are no labels so I like you assume it not a Bose. I have not taken them off yet but could see through the grids with light and it Looks like 2 speakers each door and a woofer in the back.

So that may change the reccomendation for the speakers. In regards to the 5 channel amp how it does it interface (I assume on the output of the radio) Is that an attempt to beef up the system since the original HU probably is driven at low power.

In addition, I know there have some controls in the rear of my console so anyone that sit in the back seat with headphones can chose and control some of the HU functions. So I may lose functions during the replacement.

Thanks

Premium, a five channel will stil work, four channels for front and rear doors, and you can add a seperate sub, or replace the rear sub with a shallow mount woofer and pop it right in place of the OEM one.

That 9 speakers system might consist of 4 component speakers (1 mid & 1 tweetwer each) and a sub. 5 channel amp would be one channel for each crossover and 1 for sub.
As for the rear controls or steering wheel controls, most radio companies have options to keep them operational.
