New Member here, and here is my story. I own a mechanic shop, and I acquired a 1996 4X4 Tahoe that had an engine knock. All I had to do was install a new A/C Compressor, Accumulator, and Orifice Tube on the previous Tahoe owners Buick, and I would own this Tahoe. So I done that, and then I owned a new to me 1996 Tahoe. My son will be 16 on August 8th, so I wanted to have this done for his Birthday.

I took ownership of this Tahoe early 2014 and Memorial Day of 2014 I snatched the engine out of it and now I have rebuilt the engine and reinstalled it in the Tahoe. Our plan is/was to rebuild the engine, Paint it, Lift it a few inches, install a Billet Grill, and when my cash money gets back up there, install some new Aluminum Black Wheels and Bigger Tires.

I have also put new door handles and door handle bezels on the front doors, I will do the rear doors at a later date. So, anyway, here are some before pictures, except for the engine, it has been rebuilt and installed at the time of these pictures, but obviously, my Paint and Body guy has not had his time with it yet.

Man that is so awesome for your son. A friend of mine just got his son an OBS Tahoe for his 16th as well. I've got six more years to decide on that first vehicle purchase myself. Sweet!

We started stripping pieces off of it for paint yesterday. Bumpers, Grill, Tail Lights, Black pieces between the rear glass and the hatch glass have all been removed. Last pieces to strip are the chrome around the fender lips and the rack on the top, once we do that, the sanding will start.....which should be Monday if everything goes as planned.

That’s a factory color interior. I’m not sure but I don’t think he did a interior color change.

@Fosscore i have 4 more years and im thinking about it already.... but im trying to convince my daughter into a single cab short bed square body... 3 reasons...
I want one, its bigger then anything else for safety and you can only fit 3 people, unless i swap it to buckets and a console, so less distractions from all her friends piling into her ride..... lol

Don't forget the manual transmission so she can't be texting or taking selfies! I tried to do this for our oldest but her grandparents gave her a Ford ******. Went to do it again but same grandparents gave number two their old Kia Spectra. Number three still has three years, well a little over two now, my goodness, time is flying! Anyway, I'd really like to get her a GMT800 or 900 pickemup and she wants at least a 6" lift! The poor gas mileage will hopefully limit her travels, but she is industrious! Every time she needs money, all the peanut butter disappears and is turned into dog snacks which all the neighbors buy up right away. The kid did a lemonade stand on an island once and made over three hundred dollars!

Number one is a wrecking ball. LOL Driving for just four years she's already on her third car and has had more cell phones than my wife and I put together in our lifetimes! Like her momma, she goes through tires faster than Darrell Waltrip!

They get older and so do we. Thx James for that 1st hand account. The mobile phone distraction is way too scary along with other underage hornballs in the vehicle as well. smh :nolol:
