08 yukon no start but has power

yesterday wife made a few trips to town and after sitting for about 2 hrs she got back in, turned key and no start. Freaked out so I went out and sure enough lights and interior had power but no click or start. Without thinking to hook scanner up I took negative cable loose for a few sec, put it back on and it started first turn, not sluggish or slow. Went to parts house and electrical system checked good. We've had the vehicle a little over a month and this is the first time it's done this. I've read here and web about bad cables, theft deterrent, and BCM getting old or out of wack but have not see a true fix. Does anyone have any info on this issue? I'm going to check connections today.

I dunno, AutoZone said the battery and alt were ok. BUT a week or so ago we had the doors open and the radio on for 30-40 mins and when I started it the Service Battery screen appeared in the DIC and the battery light was on. Drove it for about 15 mins and it never went off. Unhooked the negative cable and replaced then the light and display went away. I'm still reading and searching.

that is funny...my service battery charging system light came on a couple of days ago. Had Advance Auto to use the tool on the battery that I just replaced in November...low and behold my alternator had gone bad....was only at 10.4amps. Might be time for that to expire

I'll throw the amp clamp on mine this evening and see what it's doing. The charging circuit is funny on these and controlled by the BCM I think. Theres a few different states the circuit can be in depending on what the vehicle and battery is doing. It's mind boggling with the if / then, and / or etc... conditions it checks.

put the clamp on the alt wire and it was 24 amps, then on the red wire on the right side of the 175 amp fuse and it was 21 A, then on the wire between batt + and the 175 fuse and it was 3 A, So I assume the vehicle electronics were taking 21 amps and the 3 was going to charge or maintain the batt. Is that correct logic?

I am having this same issue with my 2008 GMC Yukon get in and the truck acts as if there is a dead batt no power to anything inside even hooked up jumper cables to my 2006 Dodge diesel and nothing this truck has been to shop 10 times and they cannot find anything wrong but then again I had to tell the dealer why the cruise control wasn't working has anyone figured this issue out yet I have an extended warranty and if I had some where to lead them it might get fixed

I've not found what caused my issue, I unhooked the negative batt and back on and everything worked. Yesterday on a long trip our radio nav system rebooted for no reason.

I'm having the same issue on my 2009 Yukon SLT. Random errors on my display, has power but won't start and on and on. I take of the poss batt cable to get it to start.

I also have 2 cracks on my dash, very frustrating as I can never seem to get anywhere with dealers or mechanics yet I see the issue all over the internet.
