07 tahoe lighted gauge

Ok so it never really dawned on me but read it somewhere, now I notice, I can barely see the gages on my 07 but on the 2012 it seems the light is always on the gages, 07 I can barely see them in the day. Especially volt and coolant Temps.
Can I change this?

Your instrument cluster needs repair. There are many repair shops. Do a quit search of your area. Check Facebook Marketplace.

Twist the dimmer switch?

May also have to do with the light sensor in your dash.
If you unplug the sensor and put a 560 ohm to 2.2kohm resistor across the white and black wires, gauges should be full brightness..
If it's brighter than it normally is, your sensor is bad.

I'm pretty sure 07-08 have different gage lighting? I can check for volts if needed

07-08 and maybe 09 Clusters do not light up during the daytime. It is designed that way.
Somewhere around here there is a post on how to get power to it so they are always on.

Thanks to Fiatdale, I was able to keep my gauge lighting on all the time while the vehicle is running. It drove me nuts for years that the gauges could hardly be seen during the day. I think GM realized this and changed it for the 08'+. It is a very easy mod and took about 20 minutes. See...
