New Badges for Military Service Members, LEO, FireFighters and EMT

That was part of what I did. Most of the unit was older and I was in my late 20's when I was sworn in. As such, I was closer to the action.

New Badges for Military Service Members, LEO, FireFighters and EMT

Hmmmmm........I'm sort of on the fringe. I was a volunteer police officer for 10 years. It was a left over from WW2. Today it would come under Homeland Security. At the time, it was the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency. Basically air raid wardens. We worked disasters and as a back up to regular...

    Dash camera review

This is a review of the Vantrue N4 Pro S dash camera along with various accessories. This does come in a bundle but the testing will be done on several different vehicles so certain options are used to facilitate that. To make the review as inclusive as possible, testing will be done on a late...

    New toy

It's a sort of a mini camper shell. It's painted to match the truck. There is a sliding rear window on the cab and another one on the shell. I think it is meant to be a sleeping area but the sliding rear window is too small to climb through. More than likely it was just an extra storage area...

    New toy

It's a 460. They even came with the 300 6 back then but this was bought as a conversion. I definitely did NOT want a diesel. It doesn't have any rust I can find. It's not very nimble though. I drove semi's that had a better turning radius.

    New toy

Got the Furd home today. Title for title and it's sitting in my driveway. The other guy was salivating over a truck I was ready to take a hammering on just to get rid of it. He even handled the transport. It looks better in the picture than in person but it does have an aura about it. I knew...

Thinking of Buying a 00-06 NBS Tahoe/Suburban? Look Here

Yeah. I always felt it was unprofessional to use police powers for personal use. I turned my badge in at the end of 1993, but I still know a few serving officers. The fellow I talked to works mostly in auto theft anyway. I just found out this morning the kids husband may be separating from the...

Thinking of Buying a 00-06 NBS Tahoe/Suburban? Look Here

I did a naughty thing. I got a picture and the plate was blurred, but I cleaned it up and ran the plate through a friend who stayed in police work when I left it. It's not really professional, but I'm glad I did. It's been totaled, rebuilt, totaled again, currently has a branded title and has...

Thinking of Buying a 00-06 NBS Tahoe/Suburban? Look Here

What am I looking at. I've got a mid sized motorcycle I can't ride anymore. Failed knees, balance issues from age and such mean I can't even get on it. I have a guy interested in trading his 2004 Tahoe title for title for it. The Tahoe is an Ohio truck but is supposed to have some body rust (In...

    2026 Dash cam!

It will constantly over write old files that are NOT protected. If you have an event that trips the G meter, it will save that video. I drove up through Ohio once and the interstate was so rough it kept tripping my camera. It will also save video that you manually record. Anything else get over...

    6.2 recall question?

[SOLD] 1985 Honda Magna VF700C for sale. $2500

A walk around of the bike. Warning, it's as hard to watch me trying to get my knee over it as it is to do.

[SOLD] 1985 Honda Magna VF700C for sale. $2500

I recently had some health issues that have put paid to my motorcycle days. I can no longer get my leg over a regular motorcycle so I bought a large Scooter. (Suzuki Burgman) My Magna is now parked in the back of the garage and slowly getting buried. It's good bike in nice condition. I've been...

Bought a “30k mile” 2016 LTZ… turned out to be ~200k miles (odometer rollback) – warning to others

Most states have places on the title to indicate "odometer discrepancy". I ran a salvage yard in the early 80's and we saw all sorts of things on cars. Stuff then wouldn't work today. Things like a couple of tablespoons of brake fluid into an automatic transmission to keep the bands from...

Bought a “30k mile” 2016 LTZ… turned out to be ~200k miles (odometer rollback) – warning to others

Unfortunately, it's not as difficult to do as most people think. Carfax is good, but it only recently started reporting services more than other services. My oil change shop has recently started showing up on Carfax. Before I bought the Mazda, I had looked at a pristine Mitsubishi Outlander...

    Power steering fluid requirements

Unless they call for ATF, I usually use dedicated power steering fluid. ATF is really high detergent and the power steering fluid has better lubricating properties.

    Power steering fluid requirements

I'm fixing the really sloppy steering my on 1996 K2500HD. The pitman arm has so much slop the steering wheel turns 90 degrees before it does anything. I'm also replacing the idler arm as it is nearly as bad. Since I have to unhook the power steering lines anyway, I plan to put all new fluid into...

Best VIN check site? Carfax worth it (or alternatives)?

Carfax is one of the better sites. It often shows maintenance and other work done. I sprang for a Carfax when I bought my Mazda years ago. It still keeps track of my service records in some cases. This will pay off down the road if I sell it. However, it also kept me from making a HUGE mistake...

Ugghh...several issues and trying to use code reader. Help.

Generally, you want the ignition on, but the engine NOT running. With the "failure to respond" message, it's telling you the computer isn't talking to you.

    1996 K2500HD pitman arm

As long as I have a good notch, an air chisel out to take care of business. I've dealt with worse. It will crack the arm and it will drop right off.

    1996 K2500HD pitman arm

After I posted my earlier post, I visited the U of Y. I found my exact problem (Thanks Youtube) and the two thoughts I had seem to be what most people do. Basically, I'll notch the pitman arm on the splines and then hammer an air chisel in there. Once it cracks all the way, the arm will fall...

    1996 K2500HD pitman arm

Unfortunately, this is an HD frame model and I'd have to pull the steering gear. I still work on my cars but working on my back is nearly impossible anymore. I have the new arm so I may chisel it apart and take it off that way. I've done similar as a field expedient but I try to be a little more...
