99 Tahoe 2 Door Getting Rear Disc Conversion

Sorry I have been away for a bit. All I can say is that the peddle is much firmer and the stopping distance is much better than before. I highly recommend doing this if you want to stop better. I also replace all the hose with Russel SS brake lines as well. LS is a great kit. Just take your time...

99 Tahoe 2 Door Getting Rear Disc Conversion

Let me know how that goes. I might go this direction later on. Wildwood PV, it might be a better solution. Only worries I have it the ABS, I would have to bypass it and or have is shut off with a Blackbear tune. I would hate to see that light on my dash all the time...

    99 tahoe rear axle problems

This sound like that your spider gears are worn along with the shims/spacers and or the C-Clips as well. You would have to take the rear cover off to verify the issue. Not a hard job to do at all, just messy. Find a good rear end shop in your area and hit them up for the replacement parts.

99 Tahoe 2 Door Getting Rear Disc Conversion

Yes, it firmed it up, but nothing like a Hydroboost would do. I can say after this last week of driving the Tahoe it is a huge improvement over the stock set-up. I have put a few hundred miles on it now and pedal is no where near as it was before. Drove it from Fresno area down to the drags at...

99 Tahoe 2 Door Getting Rear Disc Conversion

Now I went to bleed all 4 wheels starting with the farthest wheel and worked myself back to the nearest and the repeated this one more time for good measure. Im lucky that I have a one man bleeding kit as well, it make things so much easier. Just a few notes on this install. Just make sure that...

99 Tahoe 2 Door Getting Rear Disc Conversion

Well today I finished up on the install of the rear disc brakes and all of the other things I did to it to make it work properly. So I swapped out the old master cylinder for the new body style that has the larger bore and is made for the rear disc. Don't forget to bench bleed to new MC, this...

99 Tahoe 2 Door Getting Rear Disc Conversion

I put the larger Front Calipers on as well. These are from a 2500 series truck from the same gen as ours. I have a comparison picture of the two calipers. As you can see there is a slight difference in size and the pads are about the same size but maybe just a slight bit bigger. They are a bolt...

99 Tahoe 2 Door Getting Rear Disc Conversion

Now as for the rear emergency brake cables i had to get ones from a 4 door 2 WD Tahoe. The only reason had to do this was because I have a DJM rear flip kit witch moves the rear end back like 2in. So this means that the stock emergency brake were just about 2in short, especially the driver side...

99 Tahoe 2 Door Getting Rear Disc Conversion

Yes LS has a conversion kit for the 4WD 6 lug, it uses the same calipers, just the caliper mounting plate are different where it mounts to the rear axel and the rotor is 1 in thick. Also sorry for the late reply. Super busy with work. Everything is pretty straight forward on the install. The...

Well Im getting the LS MFG rear disc brake conversion for my 1999 2 door/2WD Tahoe. I opted for the drilled and slotted disc brakes, Calipers with the built in parking brakes and SS brake hoses. It should be here on Monday or Tuesday. I also bought the larger front calipers with pads, which are...

    Best riding 1" coil spring?

I just got off the phone with Belltech and the Rep told me that they do make 1in lower springs than stock. Here is the link to Summit Racing web site for the springs. I was also told that they just added this to there web site recently. 139 for the springs...

Crazy but, its gotta go up...

They look like the ones I just took off of my Tahoe. I believe those are bell tech lowering leafs 3.5 to 4in. If you like the ride I would just get the DJM shackle risers. It will lift it up about an inch, that makes a big different. I bought my lifting shackles from Tony, he is a vendor on this...

    Newbie lowered 99 2dr 2wd tahoe

I just bought a 1999 Tahoe 2dr 2Wd. It's lowered I believe 2/4. I think it lowered with bell tech rear 3 or 4in leafs and it has bell tech 2in drop spindles up front and nitro shocks on all 4 corners. The issue I have is that it looks cool but it rides way to soft for me, it floats all over the...
