I will take a look to just check, Id like to know for sure. I dont know sometimes regarding what is "supposed" to be on the vehicle. I know when I bought it I went and got new belts and filters to put on and even though there was a listing for a fuel filter, this one doesnt have one like my 04 did.
Are you saying my rig has an actual sensor? I swear I read in some posts that this year model has a "virtual" sensor that works off fuel algorithms or something. If it is supposed to have an actual sensor, do you know where its located? Thanks
OK heres some pics. If you look at the vehicle speed on the screen, one is at idle with the - numbers, one is normal cruising at about 55mph/1500 rpms, and one is accelerating from 55mph not wot but maybe 50% pedal. They are average representations from multiple drives which only varied one or...
As an update, I got the flex fuel turned off last week with HP Tuners. Ive had time to drive around a bit and do a couple fill ups. So far the truck runs much better and no more check engine light on. Checking my scan tool after each fill up, the alcohol percentage has stayed at 0. I had the guy...
This has been the most frustrating vehicle Ive dealt with, other than some odd stuff Ive had that you couldnt find parts for lol. And I really appreciate the information people have taken time to post. I really dont want to get rid of it, as clean as it is and the low miles it would be hard to...
Well I found a guy locally who has an HP Tuners setup. Says he can disable/delete the flex fuel deal for like $200. I was reading some other posts about resetting the air/fuel mix to something like 14.1 for running on pump gas with up to 10% ethanol. May try to get him to set that as well unless...
Thanks a lot for the info. So is that calibration # something I could take to a dealer and the should know what Im talking about upgrading? I checked the Tech II owner list post but didnt see anyone near me in NC with one. Will also look into the cost of one of the custom tunes and whats...
This was from the other day. The fuel comp learn mode doesnt always activate after refueling, and I mean 10 or more gallons each time, then randomly it will activate the next time and go from 20% to 50% to 27% then stop on something like 50%-70% within like 2 minutes. I'll check other things...
Thanks for that info. Will look into if a custom tune can do it. If there is a way the dealer can do it, I would also like to know so I could try explaining it at a different dealership
thanks for the replies. This model has the "virtual' sensor that needs to be disabled. If I knew what to unplug it would be gone. Ive had this thing reset so many times now that the guy at the shop just hands me his tech tool when I pull up. I went by the local Chevy dealer to ask about any ecm...
Tired of having issues with my 06 Tahoe 5.3 FFV, fuel alcohol percent staying at 60 for the past couple tanks and its running like crap. Can the Chevy dealer or someone go in and disable the flex fuel? Thanks
Wow thanks for the quick reply. It was a highway patrol vehicle so I guess that makes sense. Not a very clean install though with that mess of wires hanging there. Ill just leave it alone then and try to tape the wires up better or something
I noticed some wires hanging down by the exhaust pipe the other day and slid under it to see if something came loose or whatever. Saw a mess of wiring back there that needs to be straightened out but I cant figure it out. I have 2 identical 2006 Tahoes and the other one doesnt have this box...
Sorry for the late reply, had some family stuff come up. Im near Greensboro, NC and would be willing to take a drive if needed to meet up with somebody with the Tech 2 that could check the calibration and maybe update it if needed. I managed to get the fuel comp reset so I could get it to pass...
From what I read online trying to figure this out, 2006 and up have the virtual sensor. There is no frame mounted fuel filter on the 2 '06 Tahoes I have, I checked. I dont know why the fuel composition learn mode wont kick in after refueling. I emailed Chevy customer service about that VFFS...
I think I found the problem. Was clearing out the codes again today with a different scanner and I looked at the fuel alcohol % and wow. Looks like somebody filled my tank with 150 proof lol. I posted about the same issue I had on this same truck last year when I was trying to get it inspected...
As my luck works, I have to get my 06 Tahoe 5.3 L59 inspected this month and I started getting the "tighten fuel cap" message and my check engine light came on with P0455 code for an evap leak. So from what I read, I ordered a new gas cap which showed up yesterday. I put it on and cleared the...
finally got around to working on it and found the problem while taking off pieces to access the sending unit. Apparently this Tahoe came with flavored wires that something likes to chew on. There was a spark plug wire on the rear that was chewed through and a wire in the harness on top of the...
OK its probably a stupid question, but if the oil pressure sensor (2006 Tahoe w/5.3 eng) goes bad would it affect the way the engine runs? I was driving home and my oil pressure sensor crapped out, or at least I hope thats what happened. For the past week or so the gauge has been erratic, where...
My 06 PPVs. Former NCSHP vehicles used to carry scales to weigh commercial trucks I was told. I can post some more pics if there is something specific somebody wants to see. I didnt know if there just werent many made or if they just werent as popular as the newer ones. Ive had 6 or 7 of them I...
I dont see where the cabin filter is but feel free to educate me. I was trying to see how I could access the area to the left of the blower, towards the driver side, to check in there but I couldnt find anything online other than instructions for removing the dash to change the heater core.
Thanks for the pics, will take a look in there. The Tahoe has rear heat and AC as well but the smell only comes out when running front heat. Yeah unfortunately I have enough experience dealing with mice that I have learned their smells
