    2020 Suburban Premier w/ 250,000 miles. 11,500$

Cool Cruiser......Car market now is very depressed with SUVs at the bottom of the lows. I see lots of high mileage 6.2s going for 9-12K. Saw an 18 escalade ESV at the gas station yesterday.....lifted 4x4, but with a horrible satin gray paint job. $9K with 370K miles LOL. That's diesel...

Finally happened: '19 Escalade lifter failure

Very Nice! No DOD there! LOL Just as an FYI, I ran into a guy at the gas station today with a for sale sign on his ESV ($10K). 2018 with 370K miles OMG. DOD deleted at 100K. Same engine, 2nd transmission. I'm thoroughly convinced that the gen 5 engines without DOD have good longevity. Good Luck...

Finally happened: '19 Escalade lifter failure

It does. 180K miles on DOD is pretty good! I don't think I would do just a DOD delete on a 180K engine. I'd pull it, have it rebuilt, or swap in a long block. Depends where you live and if there are any competent shops nearby to do the work. Or.....try to dump it for $9K-$10K and go get a...

Finally happened: '19 Escalade lifter failure

Check wire connections to coils too. Listen to this vid. Also you can drain a quart of oil and add a quart of AFT. ATF can provide a cleaning function. See if that changes the noise. It won't fix a broken lifter but the detergent in ATF can unstick a stuck roller. And it should change the...

Finally happened: '19 Escalade lifter failure

Yes....that sounds like a bad lifter in the vid and they don't necessarily trigger a Check Engine Light (CEL) on the dash. Mine wasn't that loud. Ran fine. No codes. I actually drove it for a few thousand miles while I was waiting for parts. LOL Chevys are Tough! And exhaust leaks can sound like...

Finally happened: '19 Escalade lifter failure

You won't know until you tear it down and find the problem. DOD can cause problems beyond just the DOD lifters. Like on mine, it was a normal lifter that failed. The roller froze and ground down a cam lobe. I suspect the DOD system caused an oiling problem with the lifter. On yours....Like does...

Finally happened: '19 Escalade lifter failure

Hahahahaha......I've done it before and I wouldn't do it for $500. You need a lot of tools and a special TQ wrench and about 20 hours of time.

Finally happened: '19 Escalade lifter failure

An L8T is an engine and not a cam. And nobody knows how to do a clean L8T swap yet. If its just ticking real bad, just do a DOD delete. Cost will vary by shop. At 180K you may just want to do an engine, but I would stay away from a DOD engine. Chev Perf Parts makes a LT1 Crate w/o DOD...

Finally happened: '19 Escalade lifter failure

They make a kit. Cam, Lifters, gaskets, oil plugs, etc. No pushrods needed unless yours are bad. I did a BTR Kit. https://briantooleyracing.com/btr-stock-cam-and-dod-conversion-for-l86-6-2-gen-v-trucks.html

2018 L86 6.2L Lifter Failure - Fix or get rid of?

Just look on Facebook or Craigslist. I see em all the time. MYs 15+ for $8-$12K. "the dreaded ticking" LOL. MYs 07-14 for $4K-$7K. I actually prefer the 7-14 LS3 based 6.2's, but the dashes all crack, and thats impossible to fix. The 15+ MYs have the padded dash and those are good, just a little...

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

I was just reading this thread and was wondering what the enchantment is (besides novelty) with a 3500 sub. I've been towing for a long time, primarily enclosed trailers loaded with a race car, spares and tools, sometimes tipping 7000-8000lbs. While the diesel trucks are the best with 3/4 ton...

    Lift Spindles Installed

That looks really good! Especially with those 35s. What is the front measurement from hub center to top of the fender well? Do you think your vehicle will fit under a standard garage door? Mine is leveled and although I can get 33s on it, no way on 35s. And I like keeping it in the garage and...

2018 L86 6.2L Lifter Failure - Fix or get rid of?

Where are you? I'll buy it as is for a few 1000 bucks. I love 6.2s with 10speeds. Otherwise, I would advise to shop around. I good reman engine is around $5K-$6K then you have to find a shop to install......$12K is way high. Helped a friend put a LT1 6.2 in his truck it had 200K miles and a...

2017 Tahoe "Cylinder Head Replacement" $9k? Parts & Labor Solutions/Suggestions please.

$9K for heads is muy high and he didn't recommend DOD delete means he lacks experience with GM engines. Shop around. Head work and DOD delete for a 17 should be around $5K-$6K. And that's allowing for new injectors and rails which never comes off clean. Just for reference, a friend just had a...

    Roof Top Tent install

So what did you ever do on the tent thing? I'm curious. While I would rather stay hotel for a bed and a shower, sometimes while mountain biking or just traveling from coast to coast, a RTT would be really convenient and cost effective. Amazon has upgraded cross bars/mounts for my Escalade that...

    2017 Tahoe Trans rebuild advice?

OK..... Then without quoting prices, how many 6L80s have you rebuilt? And how many hours does it take to rebuilt one? And what is your warranty? Do you dyno those trannys before you deliver? Always a huge risk buying from a small indy who doesn't R&R because it doesn't really have to work...

    2017 Tahoe Trans rebuild advice?

OK.....welcome the push back. I didn't say all shops, I said very few. And that's because rebuilding a 6,8 or 10 speed transmission IS a very specialized skill. And I KNOW that NOBODY on this site is pushing > 800hp with an L86 engine because the direct injection fuel system of the LT1/L86...

    Here's a weird AC issue

15 Escalade. So my front AC won't blow cold unless I turn the rear AC on then its fine. Weird huh? Gotta be a switch or a sensor somewhere but I'm not an AC guy so have no idea. Any thoughts?

    2017 Tahoe Trans rebuild advice?

That looks cool. Any documented references on that conversion. Everybody makes YouTube videos on successful swaps, right?. Any links for show and tell. And their kit is $3K? So I need a 10speed trans and the kit?

    2017 Tahoe Trans rebuild advice?

Very few that I would trust. Why take the risk when you can buy a new one from GM for $3400? with a warranty. Seems like an easy decision to me. But if you need a performance 6L80 these guys are the best. Always in Texas...LOL And they tell you what you get. For stock engine, this build is...

Need Advice - 2018 Yukon Denali - needs new engine

Bro, where do you live? Are there no good private shops around? So your status is currently with some unknown dealer at $16K down from $22K? Thats closer. I would park it at your house and shop from there. The price of a new GM 6.2 engine is not going to change. 10K for crate, 7K for long block...

    2017 Tahoe Trans rebuild advice?

Geez...... 17 Tahoe is 6l80e. New from GM is ......$3800? approx 2WD or 4WD I wouldn't let private shop rebuild my 6l80e, it's a very specialized skill. Very. Watch precisions transmissions on YouTube. Here is a GM dealership that sells em online. R&R a tranny is easy. 3 hours max...

Need Advice - 2018 Yukon Denali - needs new engine

LOL 22K? LT4 Conversion? 18 Denali is 6.2 L86. Complete crate from GM is $7500 retail + R&R at Dealer is $3K-4K....so 10-11.5K....22K? Major mark up. And that will have DOD....more LOL. I like the guys in Washington, rebuilt 6.2 no DOD......$6100 but you need to find a shop to install...

    DOD / AFM delete parts

It depends what you feel comfortable with....I guess. I just wouldn't put a new cam in a 240K engine. And I don't pull the trans to replace the engine. I just unbolt it from the Tq converter and the trans, Engine mounts, coolant hoses, harness connections.....and pull! It's just a big heavy...

    DOD / AFM delete parts

Congrats getting to 240K! Original Trans? Your tic is probably not an AFM thing, maybe just normal wear and tear on a 240K engine. LOL. I would not do major surgery (which DOD delete is) to a 240K engine. It's basically the labor associated with heads and cam. You may want to consider a crate...
