    07 Avalanche brake rotor removal

I found the info elsewhere. They are M10-1.5 bolts.

    07 Avalanche brake rotor removal

I need to remove the front left brake rotor on my 07 Avalanche 4wd to replace the wheel bearing. Unlike all the other 3 rotors, this one seems to be really stuck on there. I've read about the trick where you insert bolts into the threaded holes on the front of the rotor, but does anyone know...

    2007 Avalanche brake problem

Just wanted to give an update. I replaced the caliper bracket with a rebuilt one, which included new slide pin seals. The pad seems to move a bit more freely than before. Also replaced the caliper slide pins and bolts with new ones from AC Delco, and lubed everything with silicon grease. So...

    2007 Avalanche brake problem

I think you're on to something. I noticed the inboard pad was difficult to take out and get back in. If it's too snug in there it will absolutely hang up! Thanks for the idea. I'm going to do that next and see if it remedies it.

    2007 Avalanche brake problem

The slide pins move freely and have been lubed with dielectric grease to hopefully keep them that way. I don't think it's the slide pins. There are noticeable groves on the old and new pad. Sorry for the poor pictures. You can see them with the naked eye and you can certainly feel them. Maybe...

    2007 Avalanche brake problem

Yeah, I thought it was a bit much too. Unfortunately the carfax doesn't have the mileage on the first turn, but new pads and turn at 47k? That seems early, and new pads less than 45k again? Can a bad rotor cause the inside pad to wear prematurely? I have a set of digital calipers. Any idea...

    2007 Avalanche brake problem

My apologies for posting this in the Tahoe/Yukon forum, but the Avalanche forum gets very little traffic. I've had my 2007 Avalanche for 13 months now. 1 month ago it failed inspection for rear brakes. Turns out the passenger side rear inboard pad was worn all the way down to metal. The rest...

    Steering column boot replacement

Thanks! I may just do that. It is very difficult to see what's going on down there; not sure I could even find where the joints split. I certainly couldn't feel my way around. But I may get inspired and try again.

    Steering column boot replacement

Alright, well my attempt has failed. I removed both lower and upper joint bolts, but I could NOT pull it free from the steering rack. I thought about disconnecting the intermediate shaft and seeing if I could pull the whole thing free from there, but thought better of it. Perhaps the joint is...

    Steering column boot replacement

joshcarl, I'm hoping you can help me clear up a few questions. I just went out there to see if I could even get the bolts loose. Can you confirm the lower bolt is what is circled in picture #1? It's VERY hard to see, but after breaking an extension, I finally got it loose. This is the lower...

    Steering column boot replacement

This is the one I bought. Both boots, the center ring, but only one outer ring, for some strange reason. Still, ya can't beat the price.

    Steering column boot replacement

Good to know... didn't have to put the car on ramps or anything?

    Steering column boot replacement

Much appreciated! I think I'm going to tackle this when I get a floor jack and stands. Sounds pretty straight-forward.

    Steering column boot replacement

I think you can buy just the boots. Click here. Wow, that's a GREAT write-up! Do you know what the torque specs are for the bolts? Was it an easy replacement? What do you mean by "match mark the upper and lower connections before you start?"

Stuck thermostat; heating blowing cold air?

Okay, did some more testing tonight. When driving, or idling with my foot on the throttle (to around 2000rpm), I get HOT air, but when engine is at idle in park or at a stoplight, it cools down immediately. T-stat? Clogged heater core? The blend door? Thanks! ---------- Post added at 09:26...

Stuck thermostat; heating blowing cold air?

Wouldn't the blend door mean either the passenger or the driver had hot air, but the other didn't? I'm not getting any hot air at all, unless I crank it and let it sit; then it gets just warm. But I hope your fix is right; just need confirmation.

Stuck thermostat; heating blowing cold air?

I used the heater for the first time today in my '07 Avalanche (5.3L Flex fuel). It only blew cold air. After letting it sit idling on my driveway for 20 or so minutes, with the heat all the way up to 90 degrees and the fan up all the way, I can feel warm air, but not SCOLDING hot air, like I...

    Steering column boot replacement

Hi all, I just picked up a 2007 Avalanche LT a couple of months ago (I know, this is a Tahoe forum, but there isn't much out there in the way of Avalanche-only help). I've been slowly fixing all the small, nagging problems, but the last one is the steering shaft boot is split and needs to be...
