Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

I see where you said it was cylinder 7. I figured if moving around plugs, wires, coils, and fuel injectors and the miss stays at the same cylinder then it is probably mechanical

It was very noticeable as soon as it happened. I limped along for a block to a parking lot but it really wasn’t drivable.

I’m looking for someone who makes a spare tire mount for off road (35”) tires. Preferably a swing out mount for the rear.

Pretty sure it was something on the intake…some kind of linkage bracket

It was extra. J/k …not sure but I think it goes somewhere on the intake manifold

Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

I called around to a few local shops and no one did injector testing. I bought a rebuild kit with new injector screens and o rings.

True. It’s more than coincidence that the miss was on the same cylinder that had the lifter damage.

Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

I’m actually happy to hear that. I have no basis for comparison but I was just expecting the lobe in question to be noticeably (to me) worn down. However maybe this was enough to not actuate the exhaust valve and cause the miss on #4. I’m just hopeful that by getting everything cleaned up and...

They seem to be evenly worn. No other lifters are chewed up like the #4 exhaust was.

The cam doesn’t look at bad as I thought it would. Wondering now if this indeed was the problem.

Never mind about the front diff and steering rack. They are being dropped/moved now.

Replacement motor questions but hopefully fixable

I have both heads off, as well as the front timing cover. I have the oil pan bolts off but haven’t dropped it yet. Good news - looks like due to my lift I have plenty of room under the pan and shouldn’t have to mess with the front diff or steering. I decided to freshen up the heads by getting...

Do you think it’s worth it to replace fuel injectors while I’m doing this?

How much would a shop charge to do this work? Need something to keep me motivated lol

I know I will need to remove the front diff, but can the pan be dropped? Or do you have to just lower it enough to get the new gasket on?

Makes sense and I would do that if I didn’t have to worry about smog in CA. I am hopeful that by installing the updated VLOM, driver’s side valve cover, updated intake gaskets, oil pump, etc. that it will last easily another 200k miles assuming the bottom end stays intact.

Doesn’t look good, I suspect the lobe is gone. Think I can get away with just replacing the cam?
