My engine replacement was almost exactly 2 months. Half waiting on engine, half waiting on work to be done. Then they scratched the door, so added some time for paintwork. I had a Hummer Ev loaner that could tow, which got me by, but was constant charging, so I only drove the Hummer when I...
I've had a Hummer EV loaner (charging at dealer) for over a month now. I saw an article recently on GM Authority that due to the surplus of EVs some dealerships are using for loaners and then selling at $15k-$20k off. So no issue with loaner. It took 3 wks to get a motor. Then another 1.5...
Update: Dealer communicated that my replacement engine has arrived. Took 3+ wks to arrive. Not terrible compared to some stories I've heard. Let you know how the engine swap goes next.
I was told 2-3 wks. Stopped at dealer yesterday and she said the order she placed for another customer just arrived. She placed it a couple days before mine. She said should be soon. Let you know. In contrast, I spoke to my long term sales person, he said he has heard of some taking longer...
Just wanted to give an update. Into second week of waiting for a motor. Have the Hummer EV as long as I need it as a loner. The dealership does not seem to get any shipping updates as far as motors go. I got the results from the 0w40 oil analysis I did immediately before the failed test...
Will hopefully have results from my latest oil analysis back soon. That was immediately before my failed test. Oil included 0W40, towing 7000 lbs for 14hrs through hilly terrain.
Yes, at this point I feel better knowing that the engine will be new. Even though not crazy about a dealer replacing an engine in my vehicle. Crazy how well the truck feels like it is running right now and how clean the last oil analysis came back from Blackstone. Really no warning as these...
Yes, I have a 22 Yukon Denali, as my name says. I never dug into my engine build date. I did put 0w20 back in truck before test. There was 3 miles on the oil when I took it in for test :) So they wouldn't let me take the truck back until I signed that I was aware that the truck could...
Well I can say that "everyone does not pass the test", because I just failed lol, 60k on truck, no known issues runs smooth. Ran an oil analysis before my Summer towing trip and came back clean. I just sent another oil analysis after the towing and right before this failed test. Interesting...
Has anyone been able to see their pico results? I'm interested to see what passing criteria is compared to my results. Passing with flying colors or just made the hurdle? Not sure if it works that way....
Just received my second letter as well. Must have released another wave....Going back and forth on if I should go back to 0W20 for the pico test. Anybody have knowledge if oil viscosity could mask pico results?
I was directed to stop inquiring until I get the "2nd letter" from GM, so that's what I'm doing. It's been a couple months since I've had contact with my dealer.
I recently did an oil analysis on my 22 Yukon (60k miles), prior to taking it on a family trip towing 7000 lbs through mountainous terrain for 10 hrs. Was happy to see that oil came back with no concerns as well. Go figure.
For those that had their pico test done and passed, do you get any documentation of the values of your test and see where you are in the pass/fail range. "Barely passed" vs "no signs of defect". I would feel much better if I knew I wasn't right on the edge of passing....
Do you think having 0W-40 in the engine during Pico test could mute some of the findings and potentially keep you from getting a new engine when you actually need one?
I've been asking about a trade for my 6.2 for last couple weeks with very little action. I think they have locked down the trade for recalled vehicles.
I wish I liked any of the other large family haulers that can tow. I feel like none are reliable with the cafe stds discussed. I do have my dealer pricing a Tahoe with baby Duramax for me....If GM offered me a deal on a new one with Duramax I would take it. Especially to get me out of this...
