Had the moldings removed on my 2011 Silverado easily. Went in for a exterior/interior wash and detail. For an extra 50 bucks, they removed the moldings cleaned, light buff, and wax.

My preference for a push guard is Ranch Hand. Currently have them on a 2003 Z71 Tahoe, 2003 F-250 Super Duty, and a 2011 Silverado 1500. They work well.

Since the tab was still connected to the wire, it was not an issue. From your post, I was under the impression that you still had the tab. Looking up the product it indicates that it contains an electrically conductive tab adhesive.
Have a 2003 Tahoe. Same problem, male connector hanging from the wire. Dealer fixed it with Permatex made just for this purpose. Works fine 2 yrs later.
