I figured it out so I'll post the solution in case someone else does the same thing. I simply reset the interface module by holding down a button with the key on and waiting for four beeps. This resets it to factory and it will program itself to default button settings. I think my son, who began...
Just got done installing a Kenwood DMX709 HU in my wifes 2005 Yukon. Has factory Bose, steering wheel controls and Onstar. Used a Pac RP5-GM11 install kit. We were going crazy because we thought the steering wheel controls weren't working and checking and double checking connections when we...
After much pondering I'm considering just pulling the engine instead. Getting the trans down and back up there for me is a major hassle. I swapped the engine in a weekend, took me three weeks to swap the trans.
To answer a few questions: I did remove the cover and replace the gasket. I figured removing the cover and not using an alignment tool to reinstall was my problem.
I REALLY don't want to have to completely drop the transmission again. I have a few minor health issues that make getting under a...
This I wasn't aware of. I know I didn't use sealer on them but I may have use blue thread locker, but I'm not sure if I even did that. You're talking about the the bolts that attach the flexplate to the crank, correct?
I recently swapped my transmission and while I had it out I decided to do the rear main seal. I was unaware that an alignment tool was required to reinstall the cover properly and it leaks, so I need to do it again. I'm wondering if there is enough room to pull the transmission back without...
Old thread, I know, but I have actually repaired these actuators before. There are some variable resistors inside with sweeper contacts that either wear down or just loose their springy ability. I carefully release the tabs around the actuator sides, open it up remove an intermediate gear and...
I've looked at everything I can think of and nothing appears worn out or loose with the suspension. But when driving on the freeway the whole vehicle feels unstable, like, swaying a bit in the rear end. The only real defect I can see is that the air compressor is not working for the auto ride...
The inner axle bolts to a flange that is secured inside the front differential. And my initial question was, can I or can I not? If I cannot, I can simply find an outer joint and install it in the hub and torque the nut. That's really all I wanted to know.
I haven't check that yet but it doesn't seem to me that those things would be weight related. If they were making noise, turning while driving would have no affect.
I hear it pretty much all the time when driving straight or turning right, it's harder to hear at freeway speeds but I know it's still there. When I turn left, the noise goes away.
Well, I'm working on my 03 Silverado but it uses the same hub/bearing as my 05 Yukon so I figured the answer should be the same for both. I have a low growl noise that sounds exactly like a bad wheel bearing but I replaced it and the noise didn't go away. I would have bet my fortune on it being...
I was unaware of needing an alignment tool. There was a round plastic thing that came in the Felpro set but I take that may have been inadequate for the task?
I just replaced my rear main seal while I was swapping the transmission a couple months ago but it appears to be leaking already. Is there anything else that could leak that might look like a rear main leak? I can definitely see a stream of oil comin down behind the flex plate. I'm pretty sure I...
