I’ve still got it. I have some interior pieces pulled out restoring them at the moment. I work off of 280 so I can drive it to work one day if you want to see it up close.
Improvement? I mean the 200hp TBI 350 might have gotten a little more perk, but mostly more noise. You can hear the intake now, but it’s hard to say how much improvement mpg/hp because I drive mostly on hills back and forth to work. The bonus is that it looks awesome compared to the stock I take.
I run a collision center. While our OBS are built like tanks, they don’t really stand up to today’s vehicles in a crash. Mild steel frames bend like butter compared to the ultra-high strength unibody structures of today. It takes a lot off of the felt impact, but typically does a LOT more...
The brush guard is OE, but only on 2000 Z71 classics. I may just sticker the bumperettes back on. Unfortunately, I don’t have the original wheels as these were on it when I bought it. They are all GM parts, just not in 95.
Well, I’ve run out of projects and I bought a new ride to get to and from work. I can’t keep my Tahoe in the garage anymore so it’s time to start prepping it for sale. I’m removing the Volant intake and putting the OE one back on. I ordered a dash skin to cover a couple of cracks. It’s sad...
Mine has a nice steel 2” cowl hood. It used to be Goodmark but now it’s ProFX I believe. Took a couple of tries to get a good one but Summit sells them.
Was really hoping that Chevy would produce a 2-door throwback K-5 to compete with the Bronco release. This would take 2-doors to the moon even faster. I get interest all the time but we never get to dollars because it’s simply not for sale. Outside of a 69 RS/SS, this is my spirit car...
Auto Custom CarpetsSo I’m fairly new to the forum, but I’ve been a fan of OBS Chevys for my entire life. I’ve always wanted a 2-door but wasn’t able to afford one until around 2001 when I got my 1st 1996 2-door LT Tahoe. It had gray leather and horrible stained carpet. Sold it in haste after...
I’ve tried a few colors. I could probably try a few more. The biggest reason for replacing them this time was the disco party every time I opened a door. When they start going out, they start flickering.
I’m about to do this same install this week. My only question is where to get the illumination power from. The OP mentioned pulling from the headlamp switch, but does anyone know which wire is good for backlight illumination or do I just need to use a test light? Any help is appreciated.
I go back and forth. I had a black 2007 Tahoe Z71. Went badgeless and all LED inside and out. Swapped it back to near stock. Sold it. Bought my gold two-door. Put all new chrome on it and all LED interior/exterior. Removed some chrome. Replaced interior lights back to incandescent today...
Got it all buttoned up today! Lots of patience paid off. Found all new hardware at McMaster-Carr. Highly recommend them as you can find any kind of fasteners there at good prices and delivered next day. Turned up the torsion bars a bit to level it out. I will be on the hunt for the painted...
Just had a service light a few weeks ago followed by bad idle and firm shifts. Made no sense as everything under the hood is brand new. I replaced every sensor and switch not too long ago. Everything was GM/Delco except one. Take a guess at which one failed. The eBay throttle position...
Yes. It’s because skilled trades were considered inferior to college diplomas for most of my life. If I had it to do over again, I would have started at my dads shop back in the 90’s and be retiring soon. My shop has 4 techs. 2 are 22 years old and went to trade schools, 1 is 32 and comes...
I manage a collision repair shop. We use lots of sublet vendors. They have separate rates when we supply the parts so I typically let them purchase as it works out better in the long run. I will say that my shops labor rates have skyrocketed in the past 1.5 years due to having to pay higher...
I’ve gotten the brush guard in primer and just have to fix a few knicks here and there. Decided to replace ALL of the hardware since the threads are corroded (these things are notorious for galvanic corrosion). Should be able to put it back on the truck with some pics next week. Fabricated...
Yeah this is a lot easier than you think. Once cleaned up and the covers removed, I wet sanded them with 1500. Cleaned them off and then wet sanded with 3000. I have a little 3” mini buffer and used some compound to take out the 3000 scratches. Polished with some finishing compound. That’s...
I had this issue when I replaced the intake gasket a while back. Turned over but no injector pulse. I was leaning over to check my connections on the distributor and I heard the injectors fire. What? I had placed my hand on the coil to brace myself. Something about the pins on the plugs to...
Wished I had access to this site when I was going through it all. I don’t like people touching my truck so I only paid someone to press out the old bushings and press in new ones (plus align). I only wanted to do it once so basically everything was replaced or refurbed.
Sorry to revive this dead thread, but I’m adding homelink to my 95. Just curious if anyone hooked up the illumination wire on theirs. Is there a good place to spiced that in close by or if I should run power and illumination from behind the dash somewhere?
